F 36 Window channel replacement

Does H channel fit in the botton channel the window runs in or does it fit in to the vertical channel the window closes in to?
I appear to have a small leak in my side rear window. I think the leak may be coming in somewhere on the vertical glass edge when the window is closed. The bare glass edge is closing directly against the painted window frame edge. Should't there be some kind of channel to window closes into or a rubber gasket that would fit on the glass window edge to seal the wndow when it closes?
Thnaks,

i have a meeting set up in the next few weeks with a plastics fabricating company here in the baltimore area that 'might' be able to replicate the EXACT type of h channel used on trojan f-series boats with out any modification at all..... i have a small piece that broke off and it shows the small area where weather stripping slid into along with the correct height and width. just because there are ''h channels'' out there, does not mean that it will work in the correct way. trojan designed this to a specific design so that it fit tight into the windows and the vertical part of the window frame. if i can get the company, mid-atlantic plastics, to come up with something at a reasonable cost, i will post the results of my meeting with the company reps.

It fits on all 4 sides of the glass.
As stated elsewhere Bob @ Beacon Marine has new H channel that is grey.
NOTE it is 1/4" and not 3/16" which is the original width. So if using old glass one will need to glue or put a spacer in to wedge the glass. New glass tends to be 1/4" so it will not require that effort on replacement glass. About 60' of channel is required to do both sides i.e. 10 lengths of the 6' H channel.

Aaron see my earlier post re the possible problem of old glass vs new glass thickness.
Some of my glass is cracked and needs replacing... based on Bob's comments my replacement glass is likely to be thicker so not fitting in the old channel. He also mentioned they had great difficulty getting a felt strip into the old H channel likely because the new felts are also different to the original Trojan stuff of 30 yrs ago.
I am also talking with a company that handles Starboard to find out their cost of milling H channel profile to suit. am also doing research on replacement glass too.
You might want to consider the need for two sizes in your quote... if they know this up front they may be able to cover this in their initial die cost estimate.

already taken care of michael.... the various glass thickness that is. i found some weather strip that is similar in size that slid into the slot of my old h channel with out too much problem from a storm door replacement website----it's from frost king and is the 1/4 wide pile replacement weatherstrip (pp17A). i have also made two prototypes using the plastic h channel and the h channel jamie sent me. i simply used a thin bead of 4200 on the pile weatherstrip, mounted it on the shorter part of the "h" to one side, similar to the original design and dry fitted the two styles (they are only about 4" long to start) into my window frame top and bottom.... they fit like a glove and actually slide. but, because they are a different height than the original h channel, i cannot use my old window as a template. i need to mount the prototypes into the frame, take a cardboard cutout and measure the correct height of the new glass. it will take me a while, but i will get around to it eventually. this guy from midatlantic plastics is rather keen on working with me(and us in the forum) to fabricate something. to be honest, i do not believe that anything is impossible, and the more that someone says 'sorry, those h channels can never be re made' the more persistant i will be. now, if the price is okay, i will let everyone know here so that maybe we can spread the cost around. i think there are enough people in this site that care for their boats to want to do this, but then again, i might be wrong. let us know what you discover from your end.

Sounds good aaron... I am a week away from getting a sample of mine to give it to the Starboard guy. I have a large spare piece on board.
If you will have an exact match to original external sizing in black to suit 1/4" glass I will go your way.
