Thanks TC, I will remember that. I was under the impression that I had to be under power (in gear) or else I would loose the ability to steer and there fore loose control of the boat. I did go into the slip in gear and most likely to fast. I was lucky to be calm enough this time to put it in reverse, but I think I gave it to much trottle, cause the engine died. But I did get stopped, thank goodness!

But I can see by your advice and the others, I now have a better idea how to operate the boat.

You don't have to give it throttle to steer and you can kick in and out of gear save the throttle un till you get more use to it or when you realy need it . take it slow and all will go smoth , unless of course there is a crowd on the dock . then everything goes wrong
