Check that last post.. The thermostat is also screwed! I have called around today to try to find one and everyone speaks to me as if I am from Mars??? in the end I purchased an automotive 170 deg. thermostat and disassembled it for the bi-actuator...took apart the old thermostat and replaced the bi-actuator with the new one....tested it in a coffee cup with boiling water and it works ....
Regardless of the rated thermostat temperature (this one is adjustable by adjusting the spring tension)....What "running" temperature should I have with this engine??
Thanks,
TDave

Trojan Dave--
I learned awhile ago that it is just easier to call Bob at Beacon and buy the parts right from him. He'll know exactly what you need and will not look at you like your from mars. The alternative is finding the absolute cheapest place and guessing the part your ordering is correct and sending it back and trying to get another one etc. It's just easier to buy from Bob. He knows exactly what you need and takes all the guesswork out of the whole deal and will troubleshoot with you. He has set me up big time with tips and products that are actaul replacements including rpm gauge, strut bearings, hatch sealer, impellar cams, etc.

Dave , you need the right thermostat I believe you are raw water cooled so you need a 140 deg thermostat . And it needs to be a marine thermostat . Almost fit auto thermostats will not cut it .
The reason the people at the parts places act like your from mars is because they clue less when it comes to marine parts . You need to go a marine parts place . You can talk to Bob or a local marine part/repair place .
The thermostat may or may not be your proplem , But the wrong one will add to it
