I was able to take her out into the harbor and back without any issues. You guys were spot on about driving in and out of the slip with the transmissions. I pretended it was a tank and didn't have any troubles.

Unfortunately, I now have an overheating engine to address so it's good I stayed nearby.

Noticed a good amount of billowing white smoke or steam coming from one exhaust , checked temp and it was close to 225 so shut it down.

Oil is clear and no bearing noises so I think it survived the heat just fine.

What order should I explore addressing this? Again, car guy but first time boat guy. My semi educated guess is thermostat , raw water intake then impeller?

Big thanks to Larry for chatting with me.

Update : Marina techs found my impeller was trashed due to the inlet/outlet being swapped. That's replaced and no more overheating.

Riser had a hole in it so ordered a new one, this resulted in a exhaust manifold with broken bolts and waiting for yet another part.

I swear , some day I'll actually get on the water.
