oil sheen I think

Hello everyone,

Been in a few weeks now, been getting what appears to be either a oil sheen or gas in the exhaust water while I am warming up the engines, not sure if its oil or gas. Coming from both engines ( crusaders 270`s rebuilt with low hours ) everything seems to be running ok. I usually have to give the throttle a few pumps before starting it so I`m thinking its maybe gas. Its not a extreme amount but have never noticed it the last few years.

Any ideas ?

Look for carb flooding or choke sticking . Will go away when warm ?

+++ on carbie issue. Power piston in the carbie if opens it or it is stuck open will cause that. The quadrajet symptom is that the throttle mixture screws seem to have no effect.

No big deal... just float it out. Hand over hand, walk it forward and just have crew hold you off the Sea Ray. Getting back in will be the fun part!

Plan B (from what I am seeing in the pictures....) the Sea Ray bow is not as far in to the slip as your stern is... pull it forward and re-tie and that may give you more room to get out and back in... Looks like you are all the way in to your slip, but they are 10' off the main pier.

Seems to be getting better after warm up, carbs appear to be functioning good.

As for the the pic I submitted, yes captainmaniac I figure my only way out is to float it out. Myself and the SeaRay are tight to our respective sides, and both all the way in. The problem is the finger dock are angled and not parallel to each other. I mention my concern about getting in and out to the marina owner and his response was " How much room do you want " lol . But yes getting back in will be the fun part. I changed marinas this season to explore different area, so I guess this is the price I pay
