I recently purchased a 1988 8.6 meter mid-cabin cruiser. I am looking for others who own this type of boat - questions about design / systems. As I go through the postings it does not seem like the 8.6 is a very popular boat.

It was a shrunk down version of the 10 meter and they share many components.
It was not as popular as it's 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14 meter bretheren.
I believe it was an I/O, but cannot confirm this.
I know of one in south Florida and one was on E-bay.

I have had my 8.6 for over 5 years. Had all the stripes removed and repainted the hul. Looks like an almost new boat. I had an F-32 before. Worked for a trojan dealer back in the day. I have a few of the orig. brochures if anyone needs specific information.
There is a company in Lancaster called Marine Tech who bought the old inventory of parts prior to Trojan closing.
Although I would not buy anoter I/O I love Trojans. Aside from a stalling issue which I have been chasing the 8.6 has been good to me...runs great and can handle just about anything the Chesapeake Bay can trow at it.
Although there are many Trojans on the bay I don't know of any Trojan clubs or groups around. Is anyone aware of any in the maryland area.
Would be interested in trading pics. of any 8.6's around. Trying to get some ideas for changing the interior.
