HEI upgrade

Quick question. I'm replacing the stock Mallory distributor with a HEI distributor and was wondering if I need to replace the spark plugs with a different heat or just adjust the gap.
I don't know the answer
Doug at AAA Marine did not say anything about changing the plugs
He just told me to gap them at .055
Also new higher voltage spark plug wires
