Edelbrock Carb Choke Wiring

Post by Martino »

Has anyone updated to the Edelbrock Marine Carbs? If so what was your solution for the hot wire? The Edelbrock info says don't use the coil or alternator.
The engines are Chrysler 360's

A lot of people have hooked it up to the + on the coil or the alt. If It was mine I would find a 12-volt ignition feed. You did not say what engine you had.

I'd rather not go to the positive coil side or the alternator. Trying to figure out an ignition feed connection.

12-volt power on the ballast resistor.

Im thinking of creating a fused relay swith to power the choke from the starter solenoid.

It does not show the solenoid wiring, But I believe the terminal you're using to activate the relay goes to the + side of the coil. Full 12 volts cranking, lower voltage running as it feeds from the coil after the ballast resistor. Will the lower voltage keep the relay on? Would the relay draw much less than the choke coil heater? I don't know but I bet it's close.

I converted my 1982 F26 318 to Edelbrock 1409 w/electrick choke. Hooked up to positive ballast resistor (top right side of ballast viewed from aft). This is a consistent 12V while key is on.
