Need unbiased opinions on Trojan boats
We recently purchased a 1977 Trojan 25'cabin cruiser. It's needed more repairs than we originally expected, but Trojan boat owners keep telling us Trojans were the "Cadillac" of boats. We've debated selling it and purchasing a 1992 Maxum cabin cruiser with a 454 Bravo Drive Mercruiser. The Trojan boat owners we've spoken to think this would be like trading in a classic mustang for a Cavallier. Any opinions?

I would not call a F-series boat a Cadilac of boats more of a Chevy. But it has a classic look and feel as it is a Classic. A Maxum is also Mid level boat. I don't know what model Maxum you are referring to so I can't be pacific. The Maxum being a newer boat will likely have more features and new styling. With the 454 out drive it will likely be faster and burn more fuel.
Your 47-year-old Trojan is needing of repairs. Would a 32-year-old Maxum be any better? The Trojan would be easier and cheaper to repair for similar repairs in most cases. Will it stay in the water? if so the inboard Trojan would have some advantage and if sitting in Salt its a big pro.
I have had my F36 for 20+ plus years And I love it of course that has a lot to do with it being repowered with diesels. Would I trade for a Maxun? Well no but its not my style boat. A Viking or Cabo sure, But I can't afford the 300k plus to upgrade.
Bottom line what boat do you like better and by how much? Another boat could have some surprises coming too, most do.

Almost forgot, Parts for Trojan may be easier to find than the Maxum. Beacon has a lot, a lot more than you see on their Trojan store page.
