i've replaced the rotted balso and have begun to replace the saved fiberglass skin.

what material/method should be used to fill the gap that was created by the circular sawblade when i removed the outer glass skin??

O.K. soft decks. spider cracks on the outside, rotting core material inside. Here's my plan for a fix. Drill 1" (hole saw) holes from below. Insert a bent over stiff wire secured in a power drill and clear out rotted core material by vacuum. Dry out. Inject expanding foam into empty cavity. Excess expantion will exit through holes. Remove dried excess foam and epoxy cutouts back in place.Grind out all spider cracks and crazing, on the deck, with a pointed gringstone on a drummel. Wet out with epoxy and fill with Interlux Watertight 2 part epoxy. sand smooth and apply new finish. Your choice, gelcoat or paint. Feedback? Jimbo.

jimbo36,

I used cloth and polyester, I cut from the top so I could use the inter-liner
as a base. Also this is the paint I used on the rest of the deck, it's good for coving up rough areas. http://www.nonslipcoating.com/
