F series sliding window H channel needed - state colour.

Calling anyone who needs H channel, lets state it here so that we can show Beacon there is demand for them to order more. When I think we have enough I will contact them to see where we go from here.
I am in need of H channel, a full set for my F-32 salon side windows. I would prefer black.

i need several feet of this too.... it does not matter what color it is, as long as i can obtain the "h channel'' for my vessel. i could actually use roughly 18 or 30 feet of it depending on what length it comes in.

Any idea how much is needed for all the glass in the cabin (all 8 pcs)?
I have a brand spankin new dark smoked glass ready to put in but I would prefer to use new channel (black). So i will go on the list for needing some as well.
If you guys are serious about getting more made I do have a few resources for plastic extrusion mfg that I could chase down for resources. Plus there are a few low volume extruders that do prototype runs on the internet that could help out too.
I started down this path eariler but I ran into a wall trying to work out is the felt strip, I thought of maybe designing in a inside curl to take up the space and keep the window from rattling.

If this is the same as on the F26 I need some as well. I haven't measured, but think 20-30 ft would be plenty.

Not to put a damper on this issue but it seems as though every year we discuss this subject of "H" channels. A few years ago, I called and spoke with Beacon Marine about them. They told me due to the massive expense in a manufacturer making and providing them and then in turn reselling them to the end user, was down right cost prohibitive.
I wish someone would, (could) find a way to obtain the original dimensioned, plastic "H" channels but I don't think it's gonna materialize unfortunetly...someone prove me wrong please.
The duplicate channels I had, in aluminum were sent off to Aaron. When spring rolls around and he gets it going, we'll know if they'll pan out or not.

hey no fair... why do i get to be the experiment...... lol...... hey gang, i'm in boston right now on a short layover and the weather sucks!!! i was in miami yesterday and early this afternoon. there is one nasty front moving through the east cost today and yesterday......... the ride at 39 thousand feet both days were the worst i've experineced in a long time. i'm not chicken when it comes to rough air, but i even strapped into my jumpseat and did not move for the rest of the flight north..... if you think it's bad on the bay, try it in a fully loaded 737-400 with six 400 pound carts banging from side to side and up and down in the galley!!! i was sitting in the back jump seat from charlotte to newark and all of them came up off the floor when we hit some rough air..... now thats bad. ill be glad to get home tomorrow morning.
like i said earlier..... no fair on me being the experiment on the 'h' channels.
later guys. time for some rack time. gotta be up at the crack of nasty tomorrow to head to philly then dc then home..... and to the boat that has not seen me in 4 days.

A lot of talk about "H" channel. Where are these located? my guess is the bottom of the winow and does it attach to anything? I would like to look at mine to see what condition they are in when I uncover this spring. As far as having some made I work for an injection molding plant and this would appear to be extrusion process not injection using a mold but uses a die. This type of process and cost is generally inexpensive as well as the die (depending upon complexity). The important item is the material polypropanate, abs, nylon would have to see the part to determine. We have our own mold shop and could determine approximate cost involved. Easiest would be to get the original die and use. Set up to run shouldn't be more than $125.00 cost in the area of $85.00 hr for running machine time. Material is about 46% of overall cost.

I did talk to Bob at beacon marine about the "H" channel and he does have some in stock that is not the direct replacement but will work. Its for 1/4" glass (the original trojan glass is a little thinner so you have to glue it in) and comes in gray 4ft & 6ft lengths for $2.40/ft.
Great guy with lots of trojan knowledge (and parts), I recommend calling him if you need "H" channel.

They fit within the metal window frames at the top and bottom to firmly support the glass along the sides of the salon. The glass can then slide in these channels to open where necessary. See the sketch in my post near the start of this thread, third post... shown is top of glass orientation, bottom would be reversed.

Yes they would be die extruded... material needs to be UV protected of course. I would be game to wait on your looking at this in the spring as I am not interested in trying to use a non standard product to just make it work.
