greetings fellow trojaners..... as some of you may or may not know, i am a flight attendant with us airways. if you have been watching the news today you know that one of our planes took off from ny laguardia airport and struck a flock of birds causing (from speculation) both engines to flame out. the captain landed the aircraft, intact, into the hudson river. the 3 flight attendants evacuated 150 passengers and 3 infants in less than 30 seconds. i just wanted you all to know i am okay, that i was flying a tampa turn today out of washington. i have flown with the captain of the downed aircraft from my days at eastern. he's been flying for over 29 years and is a former military pilot..... kudos to the captain, first officer and 3 cabin crew of this airbus A320. again, just wanted to let you all know that i am okay.

before i shut down for the night, i wanted to also thank the efforts of the first responders..... every one pulled together and the result was everyone alive, maybe a little bruised and cold, but by god, they all walked away with their lives. as for doing away with the evacuation slides, that is a no go on that one. perhaps some airlines want to do away with the slide-rafts but not us airways. we are an over water certified airline and it is required under ETOPS regulations.... Extended-Range Twin-Engine Operational Standards...... to have all EOW, extended over water, aircraft equipped with slide rafts and life vests. again, hats off to everyone involved.
good night all, im exhaused.

Aaron, glad to hear that you are OK. The captain and flight crew did a great job getting everyone out safely. Also kudos to Airbus for building a plane that stayed intact upon contacting the water.

Glad to hear you are ok Aaron, I am also glad the pilot did a great job. It took a lot of guts to land that plane where he did and how he did it. Hats off to him and his crew for the great effort.

let us not forget the 3 flight attendants that kept their cool, used their training and evacuated 150+ souls in just over 30 seconds.
it was the skill of all 5 crew members that contributed to a positive outcome, as well as the first responders...... EVERYONE deserves praise on this one.
