Im looking to put some blue carpet/rubber mat type material on the deck. Ive been looking at some marine carpet with rubber backing but it says glue in installation only. Do you guys know where I can find this or what type of mat/carpet I should get?

It can be a rubber mat or carpet like the picture below...

most of the time that type of carpet has snaps on it and snaps to the deck...u might see them if u look at that pic hard enough...the snaps do from time to time leak water into the deck so make sure u seal the snaps...to make a custom carpet it can be easy or hard depending on how porfessional u wan the job...the two hard parts are sewing the piping on the carpet and the snap lay out....for me it is sewing the piping without and heavy duty machine....you could always borrow ur mother in-laws sewing machine lol

you dont have to glue the carpet down just because they rec that you do, what I did is lay it out, cut it( I used an electric scissors) and then bring it to a local upholstery shop, they charged me 45 bucks to sew a border around it and you can just lay it down, sun and water will form fit it. and just make sure its indoor outdoor carpet

thats a great idea to have a pro sew the piping... i didnt think of peice mealing it like that...

My F30 sportfisherman had glued down carpet on the flybridge when I purchased it. A misserable mess to take off and clean up the glue, carpet held dirt and moisure. A lot of weight when wet. Have edges finished and install snaps, the only way to go. Look at the new boats and that is what they do.

my F25 has the finished edges and snaps. Love it. Have only had the boat for about 2 weeks but its a feature that really sticks out. Very hard to snap it down but thats good since you dont want it to be loose. You almost have to kick it in w/ your knee to stretch it to get the snaps on in some corners.

snap on boats seem to be a very neglected part...they should be lubricated at least yearly

Be careful if you do lubricate your snaps. A few years back, I purchased a snap and zipper lubricant stick that looked like giant tube of chap stick. Once I used it I had a heck of a time trying to keep the snaps together. If the wind blew at all my canvas would unsnap itself. I ended up having to clean it all off to stop it from happening.
It did work well on the zippers though.

Don't put rubber-backed carpet on your boat. It does nothing but trap water. Our boat had rubber-backed carpet on it when we bought it eleven years ago, and it was the first thing we got rid of. Plain old indoor-outdoor carpet works fine, and in the cockpit, if you cut it to fit, you won't need snaps. Try it first without. You can always add them later.

My cockpit carpet is the original rubber backed stuff, and as others have posted, it really soaks up the water!! I intended to replace it over the winter but never got around to having a new one made. The carpet is held down with snaps - on each in the forward corners, 2 each in the aft corners (one on on each side of the scuppers). It is also cut and 'notched' to sit properly under the ladder for the flybridge. Whatever you do, do NOT glue it down !!!
