FUEL LINE

Hi all,
Got to make this fast, gotta go VA hosp for tests. But I'd like to hear your views on the fuel. Right now mine is stiff copper tubing. I have had no problem's, but it makes me nervous, fearing a crack, then leak.
I was thinking about changing it to a flexible fuel line?
What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Larry

Don't worry...Copper actually remains quite flexible over time and does not become brittle with age/sunlight etc:
Stop thinking Larry get out on the water and enjoy.

Hi Larry,
The only place you should have flexible line on your fuel system is a short peice at the fuel pump. This allows the engine to move without pulling on the copper.
If you don't like the way your copper line looks (dents, niks, etc) you could alwayse replace it with a new copper line.

Just got back from getting my tests. Thank you all for relieving my mind. I was concerned about it.
Your right Michael, my wife gives me hell all the time about it, and says the exact same thing to me.
Well, let me see what I can think about next,,,,,,,
Thanks guys,, Larry

rossjo,
Yes, so am I, and yes they are!
The test turned out be be more tests, which they will set up soon. I never realized how many "tests" they could come up with. They have one for just about everything! I am getting tired of taking them.
Thanks, Larry

OK, you got me curious about the "THE ANTI SIPHON CHECK VALVES "
What is it, what does it look like and what my be the symptoms?
On my F25 the gas tank is right under and in between the hatches for the rudder controls and the engine compartment hatch, making it hard to see things about it or repair anything.
I did buy a 6" Inspection hatch to put right over the sending unit so it would be easier to install another sending unit, if needed.
Thanks you, Larry

Here is what the Anti syphon valve looks like. It's where the fuel line meets the tank. This valve is threaded into the tank fitting and the line attaches to this valve.
The device has a valve and spring inside. When you have fuel pressure, (sucking fuel) the valve overcomes the spring tension and allows fuel to flow. When there is no fuel pressure, the spring forces the valve against it's seat, shutting off fuel. The reason it's there, is in case you were to rupture a fuel line, there would be not be enough pressure sucking via fuel pump to overcome the spring tension, thereby shutting off fuel. No fuel to spray over hot engine components, etc...
The valve and spring get gummed up over time and a simple cleaning is usually all it takes to get fuel flowing again.
BTW: I just replaced one engine's copper line. I went to the hardware store and purchased 3' of propane copper line, this withstands high pressure and is flexible to bend to fit by hand. I double flared the ends.
