windshield washers - mid cabin

Does anyone have any knowledge about the winshield washers? I don't see them referenced in the manual and at this point, they're a complete mystery.
I have three nozzles on the deck right in front of the windshield. They don't work.
I assume they're tied into the fresh water system but where? Is there a separate pump?
There's a small rectangular access panel in the middle of the cabin ceiling which I haven't removed. Does this have anything to do with it?
It's not exactly #1 one on my list but I would like to get these working. Obviously they haven't been winterized for as long as they've been out of commission. I just bought the boat late this year.

They're standard. The plate/panel in the ceiling gives you access to them and the horn wiring.
Unfortunately I can't help beyond that, mine work. You will need to rebed the spray fittings; they tend to leak rain water after this many years.
I had a feeling that panel was part of it-thanks.

They are standard on the International.
They are plumbed into the fresh water system and as I recall, I don't think it's a motor driven pump, but it is an on/off solenoid that allows the pressure from the fresh water system to push the fresh water through the three nozzels.
Anothjer std item on the Internationals is the red lights above the electrical panel that are operated by a microswitch when the doors are opened.
These were innovative boat features when first introduced in the early 1980's.

Do you mean your electric sliding doors on your model style?

On my 1980 F-36 they were piped up to the freshwater system through an electric solenoid behind the fridge. I say were because I did away with the tie in to the freshwater system. Never used the things...if I operate from the lower helm its going to be raining buckets anyway. Why have the potential leak?

No, the electrical panel doors have the red light illumination. The switch is on the access panel hinged door.
On th eexpress cruiser this panel is below the helm.

I also have the washers on my 12 meter which is kinda funny because I do not have a lower helm.
I did not have them on my 10 or 11 meter boats that I previously owned.

It appears that these features were standard equipment only during a few model years.
It's commonly referred to as the BEAN COUNTER EFFECT"
Mine also has a factory installed high water level bilge alarm. I do not know if that was an option or included in the base price.

Bob,
My 11 meter had a soleniod size pump under the sink (behind a side panel)
Follow the clear plastic tubing. Mine was a bitch to locate.
Good luck
Patrick
Note: the pump was a little larger than a D-Cell battery !
thanks for posting this. I removed the panel and could...

only see the 3 nozzles and the hoses going to each. No pump visible so I knew it had to be somewhere. I'll hunt around when it gets a little warmer.
These must all be bad because there's no way they're getting winterized unless
1) they work and...
2) you remember to hit the "wash" button to run anti-freeze through the nozzles.
I did discover that whoever installed the horn drove one of the screws right through the power wires.
On my mid cabin, the horns are right in front of the washer nozzles.
