One of the set screw bolts is broken. I tried to drill it today, with no luck it would not. I am thinking this is some very hard steel. Anyone have ideal how remove it.

With the set screw broke off you'll have to split the coupling lengthwise with an angle grinder to get it off. I sent you an e-mail on the Kenyon stove. Did you get it?

Are you replacing the shaft ? if so cut it and then you can put coupler in a drill press or just replace it .

I would soak it with a good penetrating oil and the tap on it with a steel rod the same size to loosen it up. The try drilling a hole in it and use a easy out. I have found that the skill cheap set of drill bits do pretty good. I have drilled stainless steel with them. They come in a red drill bit box and are around 15 dollars for a set. Titaniamin bits work good too. Do not let them get to hot. Speed is what kills a drill bit fast.

The strut was broken from hitting coral reef. I want to make sure the drive shaft is not bent.

You can check that in the boat just as easy , if OK let it be . if not you better off replacing it so you can cut it to remove it
