I just got a 1968 32 foot trojan project boat.

I have a few questions.

Its been out of the wayer for ab out 5 months now, and I'm repairing one plank that had some dry-rot.

The planks on the boat have shrunk - some more than others - there are a few of thejm above, and below the water line, that i can clearly see daylight through. Should I seal these larger ones with silkaflex, or strink or something before I attempt to get it back in the water?

Also, I have no idea the specs of the dual engines that this boat has. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Hi dan , thats not a 1968, more like a 65. The 68's had two stripes along the side of the pilot house. Yours is a sea skiff 65 31 '. Its a rarre jewell, treat it like one.

As the boat dries out the planks shrink and the corking(caulking, sealer) between the planks does not, so all the loose sealer has to be replaced. I have spent a lot of time doing this in the past and it was well worth the effort to do it right the first time. Just stuff as much as you can. When it goes back in the water make sure you have good bilge pumps because it takes a long time for the planks to swell back up and seal. What a beautiful boat when it's done.

If that is carvel planked ( smooth) it's a sea voyager. it looks like a 67. cut your new planks a little wide & fit them tight. for the rest above the water line use interlux seam compound # 31. Below the water line use slick seam with a stiff putty knife.

Engines are most likely 210 Interceptors. 289 Fords.
