the best thing to do with a recirulating head is to get rid of it . I had one on F36 . Glad its gone . I put in a elctric head and holding thank. I used fresh water for flushing keeps down the smell . you could use a mannel head with a holding tank (agin use fresh water to flush ). even a port-potty would be better . sea land make a trement for recirulating heads
this post gives me the creeps . yuck

just my 2 cents worth

I totally agree. My son has a recirculating head on his Bertram 28. Makes me gag any time I open the head door.

I REPLACED THE HEAD ON THE 36 WITH A SEALAND MARINER WITH 8 GALLON HOLDING TANK BUILT IN EXACT REPLACEMENT FOR THE ORIGINAL EASY AND QUICK

Agree with both these guys. Replace the recirc head with a set up that uses a holding tank. I have a Jabsco manual head plumbed to a thru hull for fresh water intake (for flush) and exiting to a 20 gal holding tank with pumpout. Works great. Planning on replacing the tank and hoses this winter when I replace the water heater (see earlier post on water heater).
If you want to an easier solution then go to a portapotti with clamp-on holding tank. Had one of those on another boat and used it for over 15 years with no problems.
