I'm wondering if this repower ever happened as I'm interested in a similar feat with my 305s. The fuel injected 4.3l seems so much better that 2 4bbl 305s.... If I wanted speed I would've bought something with 454s.
I have a 1979 trojan F30 express convertible.

The OP did not do the repower.
My thoughts
I don't see why it would not work. Being fuel-injected you should see a slight gain in fuel economy. They may have to work harder to get on plane as maybe less tourqe. The main issue I see would be some vibration. The 4.3 is not as smooth as a V8 even the ones with a balance shaft. I doubt you will find the 4.3 efi "so much better than the 305" If you need to repower it is certainly an option. if your 305s are in good cond keep them.
