PAR Brass Manual Bilge Pump Seals?

Post by rossjo »

I have a Brass PAR Manual Bilge Pump (1" inlet/outlet) in the front Port locker on my 1974 F32. I don't know if this is original or not, but the seals are shot, and it no longer pumps.

Does anyone know if/where I can get seals for this? I may replace it, but it is a nice brass unit that seems sturdy, well-mounted, and simply needs new seals on the piston.

appears to be a Jabsco

Post by rossjo »

The unit appears to be a Jabsco "Full Stroke" Brass Bilge Hand Pump, model # 33745. I can replace the seals from about $25 (for both), it will pumpt a gallon in 7 strokes and the pump costs about $200 new, so I guess I'll rebuild it.

I added a 2nd Rule 1100 Fully Automatic Bilge Pump forward, on a different battery, so I can sleep better at night. Have 2 fore and 2 aft now - will add another house battery on solar panel jsut to be safe.

OEM hand pump 1978

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

What was the manufacturer and model of the hand pump in your 1978? Mine is missing in my 1978 F-32 and I would like to install another if I can find out the OEM part.

So, were the hand pumps for your bilge or holding tank use when new? Our 1973 F36 has a hand pump under the front berth, next to the closet wall. There is a cut-out on the berth to run the hand-pump. It has 1-1/2 in/out lines. The out line still goes through a hull fitting and the inlet port was disconnected.

Its not a bad idea to hook it up as a manual bildge though....

hand pump

Mine is for the bilge and was mounted in the starboard closet in the forward berth. Mine is missing now but all the hoses and hull fittings are there but capped.

Bilge

Post by rossjo »

Mine is for bilge (1-1/8" hoses) - new seals on the way.

I'll replace the plastic thru-hull with a Stainless unit, and install a Tee right at the hull fitting so I can have 2 electric and a hand bilge pump forward - Just in Case!

I'm also adding another 12V/5W Solar Panel ($35) to connect to a new battery JUST for the fwd primary bilge pump.
