Wondering if anyone has changed the salon layout on a F28. I'm really wanting to update mine. I've started taking the inside apart. I have a cousin that works @ Tiara as a engineer. I'm hoping to get some ideas, and maybe some parts from her.
I wrestled with this idea also on my 30 Express

On my Express 30
I wrestled with this idea also but came to the opinion to update the existing layout vs. a radical change. 1. It maintains the classic feel. 2. I think you are limited to what you can do structurally and 3. The cost associated with major changes. . So I have opted to make changes as in the Sofa - is being recovered in ultraleather with cushion indentions to give a more upholstered look. The floor has been upgraded to Hardwood floors. The dinette area is being reupholstered in a modern fabric and tufted around the edges. The lighting has been upgraded to recessed halogen and LED indirect lighting. Solid surface countertops are being installed in both the galley area and in the bathroom as well as new fixtures. Next - new fridge.. new stove.. and custom v berth memory foam one piece cushion with custom sheets and blanket. And the cherry on top is the 15" LCD TV it looks good and modern even when it is not on. The biggest difference has been the recessed lighting, and the hardwood flooring. That made an immediate impact so far but I am only 30 to 40% finished. And as much as I hate to say it - the TV made a big difference also. Will post pictures when all is completed. Before and after.

We really would like to get a queen sleeper sofa in the salon. The only one that fits in a F28 seems to be one, that is part of a sectional sofa, with the arm missing on one side. I also want to change the fridge, the one in the boat is the original, and has gone bad.

I put hardwood on my floor its great used the stuff made from 5layers of plywood, many new boats are using this method, just glued it down with waterproof glue has been great for last 2 seasons, made the interior IMHO
Took out galley shelf area put in LG microwave with built in coffee pot (saw that in new sea-rays) new sink location (kohler cast iron ) new counter tops look like granite and some tile splash in same color of the cobalt blue sink. Used sunbrella fabric bold print fabric for the interior, i kept the orig setup since we like the extra beds. And love the room the salon has during the day. I have yet to figure a plan for the v-berth will some day make that into a larger bed for sure. Come by sometime this summer over to our marina in GH if you like.
Also I have some extra flexible fuel lines(hose from fuel pump suction to copper) for the F28's and others for sale they are 18" long and made from Parker 221FR hose with compression fittings they are just like OEM hose, easily replaced hard to find/ send email if interested Denny

dcal456,
I'll have to head up your way, this next summer. Its good to here there are some Trojan lovers in West Michigan. I think there is a total of 5 Trojans In our Marina, and I'm pretty sure I have the only F28 in Saugatuck.

sounds good, we have a couple of trojans at our marina, no other F28's though, wife and I are at the marina every weekend in the summer and we travel to the city marina in GH quite often, of course we have a very large group anchored out for coast guard weekend in downtown GH. Won't be long before the boat is back in the water.

I found this F28 on boattraderonline, they redid the galley and extended the top bunk in the forward berth. I extended the top bunk on my F 28s v berth all the way across to make one big bed. It is a little high but it sure is comfortable. I had to have a cushion made to cover the new side. I also made a leaf to go in the center that can be removed with it's own cushion.

I love to see pictures of your Vberth remodel. I started the remodeling process. I'll keep you all informed along the way. Heres the first picture, it looks way worse than it really is.

I hope the picture is veiwable. I decided to build everything around the fridge. So I picked that up right away. Still on the hunt for the right sleeper sofa.

I went to Peir1 and found a sleeper sofa that was a tan micro fiber for $700.00. The best part is the sides unbolted and the sleeper came out worked great. I'll post some pic's on my web site.

Dreamer,
did you remove the partial wall behind the inside controls? or did the couch fit without removing it.
looking forward to seeing the pictures.
thanks a million

is it the ''marlo sleeper'' that is on their website? just curious. what exactly unbolts. i am looking at something similar, however, i have some mechanical items that might take a front seat over a new sofa at the moment.

I beleive it is the Marlo Sleeper. Both of the sides and the back unbolted.
gofish103,
I did modify the couch a little. The way they did the fabric, I was able to unstaple it and modify it, then put the fabric back on. I'll try to take some pictures today and post them on
http://www.dreamer.talkspot.com.
I did not have to modify or remove the wall where the steering shaft runs down.
