Installing heat/ac in 1980 f30 trojan

Post by Viking »

I am going to install a 12000 btu heat/ac in my boat. I would like to know where a "factory install" would put the unit. Does anyone have heat/ac installed in a similar boat ? Any information or tips would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if the layout of the F30 is similar to the F26 but I'll tell you what I did. As you go down the steps into the cabin, there is a closet immediatly to port. One of the bench seats for the dinette backs onto the wall for this closet and has (had) storage under it. I installed a 12000 btu Cruisair heat/ac unit there. I removed a couple of drawrs from the same area, facing starboard, and installed a return vent with filter. The evaporator is a blow thru type and it faces forward in the dinette area.

Lost some storage space but the system works well.
