INSTANT FUN REPOWER IN PROGRESS

Posting one image of each day in the process. Each 'day' consists of driving an hour each way to get to the boat, attempt to thaw the boat when I get there, and getting four to five hours of actual work time each Day. Today's weather is typical but a little warmer than usual. Check out the gusts. It was rockin' the boat on the trailer.

Day 5 - For some reason I could only post 3 images when the topic was started. You can't tell from the picture, but the wind is screaming. It has actually blown all the snow away.

I take it you've sounded the stringers and bulkhead? Moisture readings would help too.

I pounded on them, and found no softness anywhere. Everything appears solid. Unfortunatley, moisture readings ain't gonna happen this year.

Love that you are taking on such a huge challenge. Know that you are in the REAL great white north, but indoor, or indoor and heated storage are not an option? With the amount of money you are about to spend and work you are about to do, getting the boat in to an environment more conducive to that has to be possible. The results of some of what you are looking to do is very temperature dependent... Work done under the wrong conditions tends to lead to re-work...
Regardless of what I say above... GOOD LUCK! If I am ever in Alaska, I want to see it!

Problematic as the temperature and weather is, it's still doable by heating just the areas where I'm working. There is one structure in Whittier that I could rent. It is a quonset stlye tent set atop 40' conex's on 3 sides. When I painted the Instant Fun four years ago, it rented for $2k/month and it cost almost another $2/k for diesel to heat it with space heaters. Also, it would put me in more of a rush than I want to be in.

It was 30 degrees and windy in Delaware today!
Ok You Win!
It's been so long since I've had to haul all my tools and drive 1hr to the marina to work on the boat outside in the winter that I just realized how much I have been taking my current situation for granted.
It looks like your really making some progress. What are you repowering with? keeps this pics coming !
Good Luck!

Thanks, figured I had missed it somewhere.
By the way,I love your hull color! I really wanted to go with something that dark but I got scared. I didn't have enough faith in my fiberglass "prep ability" at the time. You boat looks great!
I can only imagine how beautiful it must be to cruise Alaska, please feel free to keep posting pictures after the repower so I can be even more jealous than I already am!
Good luck and stay warm!
