Not quite summer yet!

Post by captainmaniac »

(subtitle : I don't think I like you southern US guys!)

Just another reminder I saw today, that boating season in this part of the world is still a little ways away... Was gonna take a picture of this when I walked along the pier and didn't (frostbite was already setting in and I couldn't feel my fingers after 5 minutes out of the car), but found the same shot on Weather Network after I got home! Spencer Smith Park, Burlington, Ontario (Canada). With windchill today was the equivalent of -13F up here... (or -25C as we call it).

Other shots from Weather Network: steam rising off the lake because the lake water (mostly frozen) is that much warmer than the air temp!

Its hard to put a perspective on all of this weather, yesterday was 68 down here and today is 45..... Now I do remember when I was a kid in Burlington, the bay freezing over and people driving cars on it,ice boats etc......then for years no ice....dont know what all that means but when you look a the weather maps for the current snow coverage, they look like the historic maps of glacial ice coverage......come on SPRING....the ramblings of a guy freezing in Florida....Mike

Its hard to put a perspective on all of this weather, yesterday was 68 down here and today is 45..... I will trade you my 1 degree for your 45 degrees! And I work outside in this mess. BTW I run a heavy duty wrecker and there are times I times I have to lay in this slop to hook up and pull driveshafts.

So that is a heck of a pic there......this begs a question, is that something you have seen there before or is that something new for your area...you are not thinking of going out in that I hope....Mike

Headline : Niagara Falls : Frozen Niagara Falls Draws Tourists

150,000 US Gallons per SECOND and it is freezing up! The 'Canadian side' has 600,000 gallons per second, and it's freezing up too!

Oh yeah - gotta shovel out the driveway again tomorrow before the next storm dumps another 6" on the weekend... grrrrrrrrr

I gotta win a lottery and move south!

ProwlerPaul : sorry dude. I have NO sympathy for you!

Lake Havasu, Arizona (39F low - 79F high over the next 2 weeks).... somewhere in FL (55F low - 75F high over the next 2 weeks), ... if I am able to go south, I am going SOUTH! AZ may be more interesting - only a 3 hour drive to Scottsdale for the Barret Jackson auctions! Would love to go and pretend I can afford any of those cars!

Today, with wind chill, we hit -31F

Just in case it makes Sir Paul feel better... tonight with wind chill we are going down to -40. Doesn't matter if you are looking at °C or °F... At -40, THEY ARE THE SAME!
