Engine Circuit Breaker
Last night some a-hole tried to steal my boat. When they were trying to hot wire it, they fried the 40 amp circuit breaker on the engine. Does anyone have any recommendations where I can get a replacement circuit breaker? The engine is a Chrysler 318 and it is the circuit breaker located above the starter motor that feeds the instrument panel. You can see it at the back left of the picture below:
Thanks for any help you can provide in finding a replacement circuit breaker.

Re: Engine Circuit Breaker
did they fry the whole control tower components or just the 40 CB. I have a dead 318 complete assembly. Will give you the CB or the whole tower if you want.

Re: Engine Circuit Breaker
I'm not sure about the rest of the control tower. As of now, there is no electricity to the instrument panel. When I bypass the circuit breaker, the instrument panel has power so the circuit breaker is definitely fried. I ordered a new circuit breaker. It should be here on Wednesday. Can you put the whole tower on "hold" for me until I install the new circuit breaker? I should be able to tell you by the end of the week if installing the new circuit breaker fixes the problem or if the other components were fried also. If the other components were also fried I'd like to take you up on your offer (I'll pay for shipping, etc.). I really appreciate the offer. The generosity of the members on this forum always amazes me.larryeddington wrote:did they fry the whole control tower components or just the 40 CB. I have a dead 318 complete assembly. Re: Engine Circuit Breaker
I replaced the circuit breaker last night and the engine seems to be running fine. I'm going to take it out on a shakedown cruise this Saturday. The Klixon CDM-40 ignition protected circuit breaker was an exact match to the OEM part in case anyone ever needs to replace this part.

Re: Engine Circuit Breaker
My key ignition switch is next to my gauges. You can see it in this picture (it has the blue tape on it).DoorCountyScott wrote:That sucks! Where are your key ignition? I just have ignition switches????
You can also see the padlock and door lock I had on the cabin door. The padlock held but they were able to pull the screws holding the hasp out of the wood to free the top door. The door lock cam bent after they placed enough force on it allowing entry into the cabin. This allowed them to turn on the battery switch and try to hot wire the ignition.
I now have two hasps with larger padlocks on the door. Previously I cut the screws off flush with the wood. This time, I left the screws protrude and used steel impregnated epoxy paste to form a 2 inch diameter disk over the screws. In order for the hasp to be pulled out it will be necessary to pull that disk through the wood. I don't think that is going to happen. I also reinforced the security of the lower door, but it's not apparent and I don't want to tip my hand about what it is on a public forum. Let's just say that it is no longer possible to open the lower door by simply applying force to it.
If I can keep any potential thieves out of the cabin I can prevent them from hot wiring my boat. There is no electricity at the instrument panel until the battery switch is turned on. Let's hope my improvements in cabin security prevent this from happening again.

Re: Engine Circuit Breaker
Make sure you always turn your battery switch to off (I'm assuming the battery switch is located in the cabin). This way the flybridge can not be used to hot wire your boat. Your bilge pumps should be wired directly to your battery, so having the battery switch turned off should not affect them.DoorCountyScott wrote:I lock my cabin but still have the fly bridge on my F32. Thanks. The police detective said he got some really good fingerprints off of the boat, so hopefully they'll catch this guy and we won't have to worry about repeats. Time will tell.gordd wrote:Sorry to hear The Dog house . Hope no repeats of it. People can be such idiots sometime

Being a retired 32 year Dallas Cop, these guys are not idiots, yes stupid as working is easier. They are simply thieves, just simply lowlife, scumbum thieves. If you make it too hard to get in they will tear the whole door off.
