Hello Everyone,
I went the other day up to Long Island to look at this 1990 10.8 Meter Sedan. As usual, I value your thoughts and opinions. If you have a second, can you take a quick look at the ad posted on POP Yachts.
https://www.popyachts.com/trojan-108-me ... york-83714
I found the boat before it was posted on POP, so I drove right to the owner to see it.
Basically it looks very nice for its age. The owner was very honest and explained all the things that were not working….Refrigerator, microwave, Reverse cycle heat/air, windlass…etc. He and his wife used the boat as a “dock queen†basically. They set up a table on the cockpit and played cards with the neighbors at night time. The original owners he said were fishermen who fished it regularly.
He started the engines for about 10 minutes up to normal temp. and they sounded very nice! He has all receipts for recent work done on engines....riser replacements, oil changes, etc.All electronics worked …he turned them all on. Generator needs some work though!!
What do you think? Owner doesn’t know why fridge/microwave doesn’t work….either why the heat/air doesn’t work. They never had any use for it anyway he says. Also, the flybridge combing (if you look at pic on POP) is rotted. Again, he doesn’t know why/how it happened. Moisture/ wetness ??
These are the things I’m concerned about. I was planning on making an offer, contingent upon a successful survey to my acceptance.
At least I already have a good knowledge of what’s NOT working.
Again , thanks for your time and opinions. I know I probably missed some things.
If you were me…what questions would you ask him? I’m going to send him an e-mail this week.
Ed

I like the 10.8 . Glad you spoke to the owner and may not have to deal with pops . ( some time they don't even have a listing on they boats they list) I did not look closly as you have log in (then they spam you )
One thing as in the other boat you will have Costs to bring it to your area .
There where 2 10.8 in Delaware for sale one was salvage , the other looked nice but not sure fits still listed ( its at Indian river or was)

Prowler....
I'm sorry....You're right, I completely forgot you have to Log In to see the pics on POP's site. I created a bogus fake e-mail just for their site because of their tracking. I do know about the other (2) 10.8 Meters being auctioned by Certified Sales, Inc. I believe both of them were submerged!
Thanks for checking.

Prowler....
I did see the ad for the 11 Meter Sedan down in Delaware City Marina. I sent an e-mail and also called and left message, but I haven't heard from anyone. I also called the lady who owns the 10 Meter down in Norfolk, VA. She invited me to come down and take a look at it. It does look nice, but I was hoping for some more teak. It looks "too white". Apparently she owns a non-profit organization and the proceeds go to this ?? I'm still interested in the 1990 10.8 Meter, but I'm just not sure about the electrical issues. Don't understand how all the appliances, including the reverse heat/air just don't work? Could it be fuses...something at the panel? Also the flybridge combing is rotted...that's a concern. It seems that surveys up in N.Y. are a lot more expensive then down here in south jersey. I talked to a long island surveyor and he wants $ 960 to survey...not including the fee for a short haul out. There are some really nice looking 10/10.8 meters out in the Great lakes area I saw on yachtworld. Pity it would cost so much to transport, including removing the flybridge.
Appreciate your help Paul.
