Mid cabin bilge vent hose

Post by BobCT »

This is pretty far down the list of "must do" but wanted to ask you guys. I have four bilge vent hoses. For some reason, one of the port side hoses is 3" instead of 4" and you can tell it's original, home run right back to the exhaust cutout in the hull.

Anyone else have that? Can't imagine why one would be a different diameter.

In my tri fly all the powered blower hoses are 3" and all the rectangle vents on the hull are 4"
There are 3 and 4" that lay in the bilge.

It is odd that a manufacturer would use both 3" AND 4" hose. They must have really done their math to know that they only needed a 3" hose in some places, and not a 4" hose to meet the ventilation requirements, as a 4" hose moves nearly twice as much air (7 sq. in. area for 3", 12 sq. in for 4"). That is just crazy.
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

Don't know if this is the rationalle? 3" hoses on the blowers, larger hoses for greater air flow for vents that don't have blowers to assist?
