I used these white plastic strips I found at home depot. I'm not sure what the actual use was for. The stapes went through nice & they made nice crisp seams. And they were cheap.

I just set up a system for my laptop. Total cost $19.99. I had an old laptop that was given to me. Downloaded Seaclear(free software), downloaded ALL massachusetts charts for free at NOAA and loaded them into the program, bought a USB GPS receiver online for 19.99 and have a GPS/Chartplotter. Can't ...

John,
The rebuild is very straight forward. There are complete rebuild kits for @$150 and I could send you the rebuild instructions. I did mine in about 4 hours this summer. Let me know if you are interested in the repair manual.

I believe you do need to remove the windows. I just redid mine and I needed to slightly pul on the to f the frame while holding the bottom of the frame with my foot. It needed about 1/2 inch to get the window out. I don't see how it is possible with the window in the boat. Also there is a piece that...

I had trouble getting mine out too. I had to unscrew the base, soak it with penetrating oil and then used a block of wood and a hammer to get it apart. Good luck.

I had a 35 ft 1956 Chris Craft years ago. I wanted to call it "My Phat Dingy", but it didn't fly with my Fiance. I found it funny, but not she did not.

manual pump in head F26

I have a pump on the wall in the head. It has a metal handle with a knob on the end of it. What is it. I think its a manual bilge pump, but both hoses are not connected to anything other than the pump. Where should these hoses be connected?

I talked to the guy at the marine store. He told me there were no zincs on this engine - not needed. Is this right? I would think that the manifolds would take a beating without them.

Thanks for your help. I just got back from my marina store and he dug one out of his old stock.

Anchor hardware

I have a 1980 F26. I'm looking for the cover that goes over the original anchor storage deck hardware. Any suggestions where I can get one.

Thanks,
Neal

I was told by the guy at my marine suppy store not to paint the shaft because the copper in the shaft will react with the shaft material. Also it looks like the previous owner did not paint the trim tabs or the swim platform supports(i'm guessing for the same reason). Is there any truth to this? Neal

Bottom painting - what not to paint

I think I have this right but just wanted to be sure. Paint the rudder and the shaft plate (where the shaft comes throught the hull), and the shaft bearing. Leave the Shaft, prop, zincs, transducers, trim tabs, and swim platform supports unpainted. Is this right?

Thanks,
Neal

Hi Brian, Welcome! I am in Whitman, MA. I too just purchased a f26 this year. Mine was out of the water for 4 year and needs a lot of work - mostly interior work. If you need any thing let me know. I have all original paper work and have stared most of what you are probably going to have to do. Neal
