Re: F28 Fuel Curve
I don't have a flow meter (mechanic talked us out of one when we replaced the fuel tanks), but after 6 years of cruising, I can tell you that we burn about 22 litres (combined, both engines) at 1800 RPM (hull speed is prob around 1500 RPM, but we like the extra knot), and about 50, maybe 55 litres p...

Re: F28 props
Hi guys Been a long time since i popped in. When we bought our F28 about 5 years ago, we had a problem getting up to top speed, and I think I found then that the original specs was for 14x10's. We had 14x10's with super cup, and that was too much pitch, so we had it taken out completely (as well as ...

Re: Exhaust Noise
I find a cruising speed of about 17 to 18 kts at 2600 RPM is a good speed for on plane running. Wow! you get 17 - 18kts at 2600??? That's incredible! Planing, we get about 14kts at 2800 - 3000 RPM..... and cruise 7.5 kts at 1500rpm most of the time, not on plane. We have 14 x 10 props, which were s...

Thought I'd post an update: leak seems to have been stopped for now. My husband cut the strapping and rolled the tank over in it's confined space, and no leak on the bottom.... couldn't find a leak anywhere! Why doesn't it leak when you want it to? Finally figured it must be the seam at the top end ...

We got a leaker :(
We've barely had time to relax since replacing the fuel tanks, and have discovered that our starboard water tank has sprung a leak :( Of course it's original. Of course it's galvanized steel. Of course it's jammed up tight between the hull and the engine. Looks like it may be leaking where it rests ...

Yeah, I hear ya guys..... spending $8K to $10K to replace the tanks on a '76 boat may seem like a bit of lunacy..... and my husband and I have really been debating if this is the right thing.... but here's the deal: We're starting our 3rd summer with this boat.... it took us a long time to find it, ...
