Re: Icy thoughts
These boats are built like tanks - they don't even blink at ice. We were iced in a bay like Shackleton for a few days - small swell so it sounded like we were being sawed in half! Not a single scratch after 3 days of ice chafing!

Re: F26 - Interior Restoration
Oh I am so glad I'm not alone in the "open a can of worms" world
My rub rail was also causing the interior to have a mold garden / water feature. I tore the whole bow out at well..... its a LOT of work!!

Re: New owner-what is this?
Don't rush to get her in the water - I always remember something I wanted to do/ check about a day after re-launching. Doh! Make yourself familiar with/ make a sketch of all the thru hulls. Take detailed pictures. Inspect them thoroughly and replace/ repair anything that looks iffy. Find out what ea...

Re: New owner-what is this?
I have nothing further to add to the plug discussion - I just wanted to pop in and say Hello! to another 1980 F30 owner! I believe our model is called the convertible sedan, or the flybridge sedan.... something like that. Feel free to ask me anything about your new money pit - I just might have the ...

Re: F32's playing in Alaska again
ugh. I am so jealous - our F30 has never run that fast or nice. I'm still in denial that the smartest/ best thing is a repower.... I keep dumping money into these 36 year old gassers, thinking that I can make them run like new again. HA HA HA I would settle for them running consistently at this poin...

Re: Two Trojans take a dive...
That's not duct tape - its a lifting strap. I'm a little boggled by their placement, but I'm guessing it was one of those situations where it really didn't matter. My cousin is living in Florida these days, and she (and I ) are baffled by all the people running around down there in boats, not using ...

Re: Advice on buying 1980 F-30 fixer upper?
We bought a 1980 F-30 flybridge sedan a few years ago. She needed all kinds of work, but we got her for (what we thought) was a bargain. We have easily spent the purchase price of the boat in repairs, parts.....misc....it never ends.

Re: Cool New Product
I've read some reviews that said it doesn't really stand up to oil or soap very well. I still want to play with it though! It would be kinda cool to coat the gunwales to see if it repels fish blood - that would make my life way easier! I like the idea of a bottom coat - might be able to hit warp spe...

Re: What are these for?
aha! Mystery solved! We pulled out our old fuel tanks, and when I was crawling around painting the bilge I saw a rope hanging in about the same spot. We were all a little puzzled! I didn't take it off just in case it was some kind of magic juju stay afloat rope

Re: Sea Pump
Paul - I don't know yet. I am looking at them sitting side by side, and the Jabsco one has some slight differences - but overall the dimensions are the same. I will have to wait and see how much cussing goes on when its time to install it

Re: Best RPM for fuel ecconomy? F-30
0 juuuust kidding... We have a Flo-Scan on our F30, and it seems that 2000-2200 rpm is the best for us. We aren't going very fast, but we still have fuel when we get back to the dock :) We had some engine issues that just got worse this Winter, so we never really ran over 1800 from Sept - Jan, and w...

Re: Sea Pump
I just purchased a new Jabsco pump for one of our 305s - part # 43210-0001. We pulled out the crappy Merc. plastic one that was falling apart, and difference in quality is almost frightening! We ordered ours from here: http://www.marinepumpdirect.com/servlet/the-10/Jabsco-Pump-43210-dsh-0001/Detail ...

Re: Your longest trip?
I think our furthest trip in terms of distance was around 100 miles, round trip. We had around 20 gallons of gas in jerry jugs just in case (no gas stations out in the middle of the wilderness), but we made it back home with just under 1/4 full in each fuel tank. Of course we were going reallllllly ...

Re: Transport An F30 Convertible
I believe my F30 is the Flybridge Sedan (or was it the convertible sedan...or convertible flybridge....hmmm), and we didn't have to take off the flybridge when it was trucked from Gig Harbor to Seattle, Washington. I'm not sure if the story would have been different if the journey was longer. They d...

Re: F30
We have a 1980 F30 up here in Alaska. We've had her out in some snarly conditions (some people might remember..hahaha), and she's handled pretty well. I really don't like following seas, but other than that - she rides great.
