Yes, I think its the props. I grounded her end of last summer (first time) and had to be pulled off. I think that likely damaged both props. I have a spare set and will probably do a short haul to inspect and replace. As far as all the other issues, I had quite a bit of maintenance done to both engi...

I also have the front salon windows and really like the extra natural light they provide. Yeah, I could easily spend all my time (and money) working on the boat, and never have time to enjoy her. Glad you are enjoying her now.

My port engine was sucking air too causing it to pop at high RPMs. Rain water had leaked into the exhaust manifold through the aft deck. I discovered this when I went to replace the valley pan. I also discovered that there was NO gasket between the pan and block nor between the pan and intake. Fixed...

Bob, just looked at your Photobucket pics. Great looking vessel you have there. There isn't much difference that I could tell from the design/style of your 72 model and my 75 model. The pics of the aft deck project are very helpful....give me an idea of what I'll be dealing with once I take up the e...

Agree about Deltaville being a great place. Wish I could figure out how to telecommute from there :) Having TWO West Marines is a bonus!

Aaron and Bob, thanks so much for the great advice and tips on rebuilding/replacing the aft deck. I will be looking into this as a project for the fall or early next spring, and will likely have it done since I don't have a barn and a ton of time to invest myself. Bob, I'm curious how much of your b...

Thanks. I will be down this weekend and will take some photos of the deck to post. Mine is a 1975 model with rear-mounted engines and V-drives. So far, I've had no issues with these. I berth at Deltaville Yachting Center on Broad Creek right at Stingray Point (mouth of the Rappahannock). Carter's Cr...

TriCab aft deck replacement

Hello all, I joined this forum a couple years ago, but have not really spent much time here until now. I have a 1975 TriCab with twin Chrysler 400s that I use on the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay. I bought her about four years ago from her owner in Essex, MD, and took two weekends to bring h...

Thanks, Tim. Was just curious. I spent this past weekend replacing the intake gasket and valley pan on my port engine because rain water had leaked through my cockpit and down through the engine cover and gotten into the manifold. It was a mess and caused my carb to pop at high RPMs. I noticed the o...

TriCabin Chrysler 400 dipstick port

I own a 1975 TriCabin with twin Chrysler 400s. I noticed this past weekend oil coming out of what looks like a dipstick hole on the side of the block near the bottom, just behind where my starter is mounted. The dipstick for this engine is near the rear, so is this an alternative dipstick port that ...
