Trim Tabs can certainly be used to get the boat on plane faster. Think of them like flaps on aircraft and lower them before take off! This will also result in less bow rise and strain on the running gear as well.

Re: 1971 F31 hardtop trim tabs
We checked and we no longer manufacture the motors for that system and unfortunately do not have any supporting documentation on the system.

Re: 1971 F31 hardtop trim tabs
I don't know about the bushing or how the motor was attached to the gear box. We stopped making them about 40 years ago :) I do recall that the motor shaft is about 1/4" (maybe a little less) and has a slot in the end of it to engage the gears. I will ask if we have any scanned photos on Monday...

Re: 1971 F31 hardtop trim tabs
Prowler, As you suspect it really depends on the condition of the rest of the system. I recall the part number for the old motors, but don't know the price or if we even have them any more. I will check with the factory Monday morning. If the gear case, Tabs, switch and wiring harness are all there ...

Re: 1971 F31 hardtop trim tabs
hey all, I have a 1971 F31 hardtop express with what I believe are the original trim tabs, they consist of what I would call a worm gear mounted to the inside of the transom with a rod that extends out the back. The further the rod comes out the more it pushes down on the tab. I'm hoping someone ca...

Re: Fuse for Trim Tabs
We supply a 20 amp inline fuse on the orange power supply wire to the back of the control switch. Some builders use it, and some supply their own fuse or breaker. If you cant find it, I would suspect they used the inline one. Also I would check both ends of the black ground wire at the pump. Tom McG...

Re: 11 Meter Trim Tabs Anyone ever upgrade?
Obaby I am working on my 84 11 meter express tabs now. I would agree that they are way too small for our big boats, but have been told the Delta Conic hulls don't need more. I disagree. I have to run tabs full down to get the best results on my flo-scan, and I am running 4 blade 23" X 24"...

Re: 11 Meter Trim Tabs Anyone ever upgrade?
I have a 11 Meter Cruiser and replaced the Trim Tab "Single" actuators several times over the last 5 years. Regardless, has anyone UPGRADED THE TRIM TABS ??? Larger and with Dual Actuators would be my preference. This boat is too heavy for those dinky factory trim tabs. If so, please let ...

Not to swipe a post... Tom I'm glad to see your doing better, I'd like to thank you for all the help you gave me last off season. My 3607 now gets 1.6 nms per gallon per engine (454's black ones) and will stay on plane at 11 knots! One of the best things is the wife finds it alot easier to handle i...

Re: Bennett trim tabs
If you have the rocker switch, the left button operates the starboard Trim Tab and the right button operates the port Trim Tab. This is the way the system comes wired from the factory. The reasoning is that the you push the switch in the direction you wish the boat to respond. For example if you wis...
