Erlung is supposed to lift her off sometime after 5:00 PM. We'll post some photos as soon as the dust settles a bit.

Got Her!

Just left the yard. She's on the lowboy ready to go in the AM. Bottom in remarkably good shape. No blisters I can see yet. Windshield remove way more fun than slamming delicate body parts in a car door.

prowlerfish, Years ago, and friend & I were sailing his classic, wood, engineless sailboat into the Ponds. We couldn't whistle up a breeze. We were racing the bubbles the tide was carrying in and loosing. Anyway, the fellow who used to have the tiki hut, blue lights, and fiberglass marlin in his...

Calling wowzer52

wowzer52,
I was looking at your avatar and I like the ragtop that encloses your aft cockpit. Could you post a larger photo so that we might see it better? Thanks.

Really, thanks EVERYBODY for your words of advice. For most people, I would agree with those of you who question the wisdom of reviving an old, neglected boat. I have seen more than one buyer think that he could get a bigger boat by getting a ragged or, worse, wooden boat w/out knowing what they wer...

If it keeps going in the direction it's going now, we expect to have her on the hard within the next week or so. We're planning on slapping a coat of paint on her exterior surfaces & splash in May. We'll motor sedately from haulout to here home slip, under the one engine, & do the interior &...

rossjo, the fuel has been a nagging concern of mine throughout this process. From what I've read, we could be looking at over 200 gals. of bad fuel. At least with diesel, you can have it polished & use it, but once this nasty corn gas separates there's no fixing it. At this point, I'm a bit conc...

Thanks for the quick replies. Being as how I have a ton of questions, and will have 2 tons more before we're done here, Im glad this is an active forum. Some I've been to were dead - nothing but crickets. As for a lively one, I recommend plasticclassicforum.com. It's all about plastic sailboats, but...

What's It Worth?

We're still trying to get daughter's '73 Tri-Cabin to Hampton from DC. The initial plan was to drive the boat to a marina near her slip to haul her out & check her bottom. The trip to haulout was to be a cursory shakedown to see how the engines worked. Now, the broker can get them to turn, but n...

As a wooden boat owner, I've done somewhere between 15 & 20 haulouts on Favona. Some years I painted the shaft & prop & some years I didn't. I could never see where it made any difference (& thats on a 13hp diesel). I'd definitely paint the strut. Maybe the shaft. The prop? I always ...
