F36 underpropped?
My 1976 F36 is only getting a top speed of 22 knots at 4200 RPMs. I normally cruise at 3200 RPM at 13-15 knots. I think I should be getting at least 17 knots at 3200 RPMs. Here are the specs: Twin gas engines replaced in 2008 with 300 Mercs Current props are 18 X 16 The bottom is smooth-soda blasted...

It sounds like the table has never been removed. I removed the table and bases on my '76 F28 and love the added room. We use a small fold up table that we use inside and out. The only down side is that you lose the extra sleeping area if you remove it from the boat. But it sounds like it was never u...

I found this F28 on boattraderonline, they redid the galley and extended the top bunk in the forward berth. I extended the top bunk on my F 28s v berth all the way across to make one big bed. It is a little high but it sure is comfortable. I had to have a cushion made to cover the new side. I also m...

I have the same thru hull on my 76 F 28. I think it was for a drain for the ice box. My gas gauges have never worked in the 5 years that I have had the boat. I had a marine electrician look at them. We tested the gauges from the sending unit on top of the tank to the gauges and they tested fine. He ...

The boat has tabs, in fact the previous owner added a plate to each tab to increase the overall size of the tab. I have tested the tabs several times and they extend and retract the full length. The bottom is clean, I have the same issue after launching in the spring with a fresh coat of bottom pain...

F 28 unable to plane.
I have a 1976 F28 that I cannot get to plane. When I purchased the boat a few years ago it would go past 2800 RPMs. With an almost empty boat I could get around 16 knots but the motors were always straining like I was pushing a brick wall and she would not plane. At that time it had 14 X 10 props. I...
