Re: inclinometer - correct way to measure running angle?
I had an inclinometer on my 1971 F26. In relatively smooth water the most efficient angle was 5 degrees bow up.

Re: Acceptable amount of steam from exhaust
When I bought my 1971 Trojan F26 it had steam coming out of the exhaust. The person I bought it from said it was normal. I changed the impellers any way and it still steamed with the new impellers. I figured it was normal. I ran the boat with steam coming out of the exhaust like that for 7 years. At...

Re: Considering a 1986 F27 but...12MPH top speed?
My 1971 Trojan F26 with a Chrysler 318 engine (225 hp) would cruise at 18 mph at 3000 rpm. The ad states the engine was replaced in 1996 with a 260 model (Mercruiser 5.7 L, 260 hp). With 260 hp the engine should be able to easily reach a cruising rpm of 3000 to 3200. The ad doesn't say how many hour...

Re: Rebedding Hatch
The razor blades, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and acetone got the job done. The glass is now clean and ready to be re-installed. Once I get the frame clean I'll re-install the glass using Dow Corning 795 adhesive sealant. Thanks for the help.

Re: Rebedding Hatch
It's real glass. I got as much off as I could with the razor blade. I'll try some acetone and see if that will get the last of it. I want to make sure I get it all off. I don't want to do all of this work for nothing. Thanks for the help.

Rebedding Hatch
I'm rebedding the hatch on my boat. I have the hatch out of the boat and the safety glass out of the frame. The previous owner used aquarium silicone sealant to try to seal the safety glass. I removed most of the silicone sealant but there is still a thin film left on the safety glass. How sh...

Glad to hear you're sticking around. It's difficult to let go, but at least you know she'll continue on with her new owner.

Re: One Less Trojan
Sorry to hear about that. Due to the the age and book value of our boats its easy to be totaled even if the damage is not that bad . Have you thought about buying it Back ? During the thunderstorm a tree (not a branch but a whole tree) was washed into the river. The tree then became lodged under ou...

One Less Trojan
I regret to inform everyone that The Dog House is no more. A few weeks ago The Dog House was damaged in a severe thunderstorm while tied to the dock. The insurance company declared the boat a total loss. The boat had a good 48 year run, but I guess nothing lasts forever. I want to thank everyo...

Re: water flow
For a RH engine, looking at the water pump from the front (pulley) side, the hose inlets and outlets should be vertical on the left side of the pump. The inlets are on the bottom of the pump and the outlets are on the top of the pump.

Re: Oil Filter Gasket Leak
The gasket kit was ordered and should be here by the end of the week. I'm assuming that I will not need to drain the oil to remove the oil filter adapter and replace the gaskets. Since the oil filter holds 1 quart I will be down a quart that I will need to add but I think that will be it. Thanks aga...
