Re: Helm warning buzzer and light
Hello Gettaway There are no guages in the engine room for niether of my engines to reference. They are only on the upper and lower helm stations guages. However when the port alarm signaled I did reference the upper and lower stations to compare readings. They have given the same readings for the po...

Hi Folks, I own a 37 foot international 1985. twin diesel 6-71. This has a upper helm station on the bridge and lower helm station in the salon. I had when moving a warning light and buzzer on both stations upper and lower for the port engine. Immediately I check coolant temperature, Oil pressure, a...

Re: exaust smoke
RWS, Thanks for that link for the Tach from amazon. I have ordered that tach and will give this a shot. I have known that if the engines were out of sync that you can be dealing with a smoke issue. Even though my boat tachs are showing they are running even I will try this tachometer while running t...

Re: exaust smoke
Hi Mike, I have this 1985 Trojan for 2yrs now. These engines are the same and have 1050hrs on them. They had a smoke soot line on the sides from the day I brought this boat home 2 years ago. That was about a 9 hour ride. Boat engines run very well and strong. Recently the aft cooler and heat exchang...

Re: exaust smoke
Hi Paul
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I can achieve top rpm of 2500. Both tachometers are even for both engines. The top speed is 25 to 26 knots depending on conditions.

Re: exaust smoke
Pretty much at 1800 rpm I am at about 18knots. 1700 rpm 17knots. I have noticed the rpm pretty much matches the speed in knots only varying slightly depending on water condition. Wind and tide movement after being planed up. Also please note im getting this black smoke soot from the clam shells no m...

Re: exaust smoke
Yes these engines can achieve full rpm. I normally run about 1700 to 1800 rpm. It seems I get this soot problem no matter what rpm I'm running. Any ride I go for short or long....when I return the sides of the boat are black from the clam shell all the way to the stern. Even the cockpit gets some bl...

Thru hull exaust fittings
Hi Folks On a 1985 Tojan 37 ft intl sedan powered by twin detroit 6-71 On the port and starboard side there is a clamshell that covers a through hull exaust fitting. What I was told is that this is an exaust overflow. On the thru hull fitting there is 2 half moon flaps that what i'm thinking opens a...

Thanks BlueBelle for your reply. I have clearly checked the exaust hose for the leak to be sure it was not running water along the bottom of the hose and onto the trunk that would make it appear like the trunk was leaking. But it is not the hose. It is the plate(trunk) itself. The water is seeping o...
