Re: Engine Starts and Immediately Stalls
So I found the issue that was causing my stalling problem. With the access panel to the back of the guages removed, I was able to trace the wires from the ignition switch. The "run" wire was broken, just as it entered the wiring harness. It was difficult to find, but easy to fix. A side no...

Re: Engine Starts and Immediately Stalls
I guess that i forgot to add that i did swap the ignition switches around and that the problem stayed with that side, and did not follow the switch. The other thing that i forgot to mention is that the buzzer on this engine does not sound while starting. I am not sure how this is wired or is this wo...

Re: Engine Starts and Immediately Stalls
Thank you for the fast reply.
I did not know that it has a neutral safety switch on the lower control. I will take a closer look. Maybe I looked right at it and did not see it.

Engine Starts and Immediately Stalls
Greetings, It has been a while since I have been to this forum because of a change an career and location, however it is finally time to get back at the boat. Anyways, I have a '76 tri-fly with twin chrysler 400s. For some reason, I am unable to start the starboard engine from the lower helm. From t...

Re: 1976 Tri Fly Fuel System
On my boat there is a cross-over valve. It is located under the aft deck. There is an access door located on the aft wall, behind the ladder between the aft bunks. If you crawl in on your back and look up, it should be tight along the wall, underneath the heater. It may be hard to find because it is...

Re: I finally bought a 36 tri-fly
Congratulations Christian. I am sure that you will enjoy the boat very much. I have only had mine for 1 full season but I can tell you what I have learned from it. This is my 3rd Trojan from this era. Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Solar panel battery charging
Maybe it is more a question of common sense. I have a light that is far brighter than incandescent, easily last the time duration that is required, and I am anchored in charted anchorages or I am in such a tight cove, and so close to shore, that I run a line to a tree. I feel very confident that not...

Re: Solar panel battery charging
One of the things that I do to save power is use a solar powered light for an anchor light. Hope you can guarantee that the light stays on, and is bright enough, all night long, every night... on solar power. Your life depends on it. I have seen too many solar powered lights shut down early because...

Re: Solar panel battery charging
I use a 50 watt on my 26' Not a Trojan. We go away for a couple week long trips a year. In the fall when all we are running is a radio and few lights, it keeps up fine. In the summer when the fridge is running half of the time, plus the radio and a few lights, it is a little underpowered. However, w...

Re: Questions about buying a 1976 Tri fly trojan boat
The bar fridge fits nicely to the starboard side of the railing for the companion way to the salon. I made a simple shelf that fits behind the fridge which is where we put all of the half cases and the recycling container. On our trip we did not use the generator much. I had installed two additional...

Re: Questions about buying a 1976 Tri fly trojan boat
Hey Mike, I also have a 82' 260 Searay Sundancer. I have done a ton of work on this boat in order to make it as useful as possible. I made a fiberglass hardtop, and extended swim platform, reupholstered inside and out with memory foam added to the births, new carpet, rebuilt outdrive, and a built up...

Re: Questions about buying a 1976 Tri fly trojan boat
I am sure that you will love the space on the boat. Our maiden voyage was a 2 week journey, were we went through 4 locks, a section of Georgian Bay, and 125 miles of Lake Huron. It was the wife and I, with 2 teenagers and 2 lab puppies. The boat is roomy enough that we didn't kill each other. Also r...

Re: Questions about buying a 1976 Tri fly trojan boat
Welcome to the site and possibly to a Try-fly. All I can tell you is from my own experience from my tri-fly. We had purchased our boat in October ’13, and have only had one season with it. We had looked at 2 other tri-fly’s at the time and all three of them had evidence of the same things. They ...

Re: Starboard Engine Stalling Without Warning.
Christian, Sadly, the boat is wrapped up for the winter. At this point I have little access to it so all I can do is make a plan of attack for when I release it from it's cocoon in the spring. These engines have mechanical fuel pumps. I recently bought a small electrical fuel pump which I may try ou...

Re: Upper Helm Shifter Cables.
The boat is wrapped up and put to bed for season and not easy to get into. I wish that I had measured it before hand but I was running way to short on time. I guess that I was hoping that someone would somehow know these lengths. I know that this was a long shot but it is worth a try. I was hoping t...
