I have the same thing on the port side of my '90. Coupled with other dings and scrapes on that side, I think my gelcoat cracks were caused by the hull banging up against the fenders and dock while the previous owner had her. The vertical area of the hull aft of the center is going to be more susepta...

It's a GE JES735BF. I bought it from Best Buy because they had it in Black, but Walmart has basically the same thing in white, model JES738, for ten bucks less.

Found a New Home for my Microwave

My 1990 f32 doesn't have a shelf behind the dinette, so our microwave oven has been sitting on the galley counter. I just bought a new GE microwave ($56) that has reasonable interior space, but is just small enough to sit on the top shelf of the galley cabinets, to port and forward (adjacent to the ...

Given how useless (but required) the anchor light on the helm seems, I replaced it with one of the socket type light poles. It gives me more room on the helm for other equipment, and I can still use the light if necessary.

I used regular plywood for a backing plate, but saturated it with epoxy resin. I put it in a couple of years ago, and it still looks new.

Have read others who used starboard for backing plates. If the hull surface that the plate goes up against is fairly flat, it seems like a great ides.

Had a very similar problem several years ago when they started putting ethanol in gas. The junk loosened up by the ethanol was clogging my gas filters. Seems like, when the engines sat a while, the junk settled in the filter and let me run the engine again.

I had junk in the bottom of my tanks when I switched to ethanol two years ago. I removed a fitting in the top of the tank, and used an electric fuel pump and a length of semi rigid nylon tubing to pump the stuff out.

Pump and tubing cost less than $75.

Bought mine from Marine Tech- both sides were a little over $200.

I've seen them for sale at other places, but the profile of the rail has to match anything you buy.

There was a long thread on this in another now defunct Trojan forum. Many think that the relay only activates when the dash switch is pushed. The reason for the dash switch is that, if you are trying to start an engine on a dead battery, the battery may not have enough strength to activate the relay...

This time of the season, when we're bombarded with yellow jackets and biting flies while at anchor, the screen door is a very desireable feature!

I replaced the rollers on mine with new ones purchased at Home Depot. My bottom rollers are kept under tension by a thin strip of tempered steel. There is an adjustment screw that allows you to back off the rollers enough to pop out the screen frame. I was originally confused by the screw because it...

The emergency start relay always puts the batteries in parallel when you start either engine. There was a big debate about this on one of the old Trojan websites, and I confirmed it in my owners manual. The purpose for the switch is so, if the relay can't activate because one starting battery is dea...

Looking on the internet, a 4' X 8' piece of 3/8" Margard Lexan costs $883. That seems like a lot of money to replace a couple of hatch tops.
