Re: engines balking at 3000 RPM
Assuming these are equipped with the usual Q-Jets.. have you played with , set /adjusted secondary air valve tension since the carb rebuilds ? Do you know how the secondary barrels are reacting when engines bog?

Re: 84' Trojan F32, in too deep?
Hard to find much valid input on here except "get a survey" . Seems no matter how deep an understanding you have of your own boat you couldn't possibly know more than a surveyor will tell you after a few hours looking it over ,according to some of these fellas . Seems to me you got a good ...

Re: Onan mcck 6.5 not charging start battery.
It is not above 12.6 nominal battery voltage with the genset running as i have clearly stated . That is why i am asking for advice . Bob at Beacon marine told me when i called to buy the diode that i thought would fix the charging problem , that if the generator starts and runs it has to be charging...

Re: Onan mcck 6.5 not charging start battery.
I have the manual for it , it states it charges the start battery at 1 amp . it also mentions that if unit is subject to frequent starting /cranking , a supplemental charger may be necessary . The charge fuse is good . Last season i hooked the 3rd bank of my onboard charger too it to keep it charged...

Onan mcck 6.5 not charging start battery.
So the onan 6.5 on my 82 tri cabin does not seem to be charging the start battery . Now , ive talked to Bob about this via telephone and he says if the generator runs , its charging the battery . My meter says otherwise . I replaced the battery two days ago at Bob's suggestion and took my fluke mete...

Re: tri cabin wiper motor grounding
as an update in case anyone else has this issue , the ground wire is attached to the windshield frame mount bolt on the port side and can be accessed by dropping the removable panel on the headliner . the wire still appeared to be tight and the issue was where the stud or bolt comes thru the frame. ...

Re: tri cabin wiper motor grounding
I haven't got to it yet, but im pretty determined i want to fix the original problem as opposed to a "work around " fix.
Years of work around fixes are exactly what turns an otherwise well kept boat into a hacked up mess.

Re: 1972 36' Tri-Cabin
Being that your in Michigan , i have an 82 Tricabin i would consider selling . Only had her a couple years but been working on her non stop. my last main issue is the port engine appears to have been epoxied due to freeze damage . It runs fine ,no water in oil , stays around 160 f. i love the damn t...

Re: tri cabin wiper motor grounding
After further review..... You may be able to access the windshield attachment by only pulling the plywood piece that spans the slope at the overhead height transition. If you can find and reach the ground wire bolt there, you may be able to avoid half-assing it, or waiting. Wipers are a safety feat...

Re: tri cabin wiper motor grounding
Try to check if there is continuity between the frame and your battery negative directly, that will tell you at least if it is actually grounded or not and the quality of the ground if any. I know with all the fiberglass between the batteries and the windshield frame , it is not grounded directly ....

im having a problem with my wiper motors, i believe is a bad ground thru the frame . typically if i turn one on it does not work , however all the indicator lights come on as if all three are turned on . Re: Potential Purchase Advice
i look at quite a few tri cabins since buying my 82. Mostly for familiarization and ideas as to what others have done . Generally i would say pricing would range from 7k to about 22k on the majority . i can tell you the surveyor valued mine at 19k and it sold for 14 , to the owner before me . it had...
