Let me help you out on those Halogen installation

When you replace the RV lights.. you are going to have four screw holes and discolored headliner... plus you will probably find that the mounting will be difficult... I fashioned a mounting "plate" of wood that uses the existing screw holes that allowed me to easily mount the lights and co...

I wrestled with this idea also on my 30 Express

On my Express 30 I wrestled with this idea also but came to the opinion to update the existing layout vs. a radical change. 1. It maintains the classic feel. 2. I think you are limited to what you can do structurally and 3. The cost associated with major changes. . So I have opted to make changes as...

Power set up on your new fridge?

I want to replace my fridge also but I kind of don't want to pay the AC/DC fridge cost. I would assume you have an inverter set up to power the fridge away from the dock. How big is you inverter? Does that fridge draw alot of power.

Thanks..

LED lights for interior lights

The interior LED white lights are a very intense white light and give a very artificial looking light quality that is not very pleasing on the eye for direct lighting. I opted not to use LED inside except for indirect lighting. My choice for internal lights are the recessed or hockey puck halogen li...

I also believe that festoon lights...

I also believe that festoon lights...did not become widely used until way after your boat or mine was built - i.e. 1971 and 1978 respectively. I believe the BA9S bulb (a bayonet style bulb) is the bulb replacement that you are looking for your sidelights. IF you have the original installed Perko tea...

The Trojan in question is a 1971 Sea Raider I believe..

Rules regarding Coast Guard Certification were enacted for boats manufactured on/after: Effective November 1, 2002: The rule will direct manufacturers of uninspected commercial vessels and recreational vessels to install only navigation lights certified and labeled as meeting the technical requireme...

LED replacement bulbs

I have replaced the bulbs in my Perko teardrop navigation lights - I dont have the info totally but here is the link from the company: http://www.superbrightleds.com/BA9S6_specs.htm - they are about 3.50 each. Yes they are directional - the Led I have is 4 Led's firing up.. BUT they are sufficient i...

I removed my steamer/anchor light girder monstrosity also..

What are you going to use in place? I have bought a sailboat bubble masthead light that is small and can fit where the existing screws to the support bracket were and it will actually cover those up. But if you have a better suggestion I would be interested. I still have to figure out what I am goin...

Teak Refinishing dark spots and drilling a hole in f'glass

I have some dark lines in my teak trim outside and on my swim platform - not much but just enough to bother me. I have been using UV Poly to protect but I guess that was not enough. Is is going to be easier to refinish and what is the procedure OR Use Cetol even though I dont like the orange tint if...

What is under that carpet?

Looks like from the brochure it may be a teak floor also?? That would be sweet... refinish that then you can lighten up the boat with a lighter fabric or pleather on the interior. I just ripped out the carpet on my '78 30' Express and went with a vinyl plank cherry wood floor that would make the ent...
