Re: 1988 10M Mid-cabin Rear Main Seal

As luck would have it (not my usual luck, but I'll take it), turns out it is not the rear main seal leaking after another op test pier side. It was that pesky little oil pressure switch (just two years old) dripping where the plastic cap meets the metal ring. Couldn't see it when it was shutdown of ...

Re: 1988 10M Mid-cabin Rear Main Seal

I am definitely not a snake oil guy but this stuff has saved me on two cars, one was so dramatic it didn’t seem possible and worked long term. AT-205. Worth a shot if the seal isn’t physically damaged. Bob, appreciate the tip. I am certainly not opposed to using it for a short term (maybe longer) i...

1988 10M Mid-cabin Rear Main Seal

Howdy ya'll, Anyone ever "successfully" replaced a two-piece rear main seal without pulling their engine (Gen IV 454/350)? I know the ideal method would be to pull it and then get into everything else that comes with it, but just asking if it's absolutely necessary and if it can be done. T...

Re: 89 mid cabin black water thru hull

thx I have given it some thought and I agree with you, no marelon. I am curious about the backing plate The current valve seems as if it was bolted to the backing plate before it was installed, when I turn one of the nuts the bolt turns with it. (probably a flat head machine screw) I will probably ...

Re: 89 mid cabin black water thru hull

If I have to pull the boat out of the water to fix my trim tab leak I want to replace the blackwater thru hull at the same time does anyone know the specs for this? probably easiest if I replace it with the same kind thx rr I went with the following Groco ball valve. So, much easier to maintain, ea...

Re: 89 mid cabin vacuflush wiring

thanks for that info I have remodeled the head so some things might be a little difficult for me to get at, but I will take a look. I want to install a timed relay so in case of a fault the pump will not run indefinitely. My original plan was to put it before the vacuum switch Alternatively I don't...

Re: 89 mid cabin vacuflush wiring

thanks for the pics but I cannot tell where I am looking can you give me some reference? I don't know what the bolster board is thx rr mrrudely, I'm sorry for the delay in response and for the non-informative pics, I know that can be frustrating. In any case if this issue still exists, the first pi...

Re: 89 mid cabin fuel question

mrrudely, I'm of the opinion that this whole "condensation in the tank because you don't keep it full" is a myth. Condensation only happens when there's a temperature and "dew point" difference between the two spaces. I've done a lot of research and have personally witnessed a co...

Re: 1988 10 Meter-mid cabin, Need new propellers!

mpjosh2001, Sorry for the delay in replying, but the results still stand. I'm still getting every bit of the following: 4200/4250 RPM at 24.7 "knots" (as provided via Raymarine Chartplotter SOG), slack tide, approx 1/3 tabs, and just above 3/4 fuel on both tanks. What I have also realized ...

Re: 89 mid cabin vacuflush wiring

RR, The vacuum switch wiring definitely goes underneath the shower pan and ends up going through the closet (underneath the bottom shelf). It does however, go under the sink vanity first. It ends up going up the side of the hull and then runs behind the removable bolster board (at least on mine) on ...

Re: 89 mid cabin vacuflush wiring

RR,
I'm going down to the boat this afternoon. let me doublecheck the vacuum switch wiring route and get back to you. I'll take pics if I can.

Sorry for the delay in replying, but thank you for the information regarding the radar arch.

Re: 89 mid cabin vacuflush wiring

RR, When replacing all of my sanitary hoses and installing a sump pump, I located those wires on my 1988 Mid-cabin. On mine they run underneath the shower pan as you described, but then went up inside the closet behind the toilet. I had to remove the closet shelves and such to locate them. I actuall...

Re: 1988 10 Meter-mid cabin, Need new propellers!

Well fellas, I have some "partial" results! I say partial results as I encountered a STBD engine overheating scenario while on my way back to homeport from the yards. However, these are the facts I have from the partial test; 4200/4250 RPM at 24.7 "knots" (as provided via Raymari...
