I've been chasing an aft cabin leak for 2 years. Thought it was back cabin wall, replaced, still leaked. The leak was coming through the headliner mostly in the back where it meets the trim. This year I pulled the headliner down, found the leak actually started in the middle of the side windows and r...

overheating on Tri Cabin engine
My boat has 350 mercruisers with a MC552-SB-C or GLM13230 thermostat housing. It has a 140 thermostat but has been running at 180. It recently started to peg the temp gauge. I checked the sea pump it is ok. The water pump is only a couple of years old. I replaced the thermostat with another 140 stat...

oil for older trojans
I have had several opinions on what oil to run in older boats. I have a 72 Tri Cabin with 86 engines with around 400 hrs. I was going to use Synthetic but was told it wasn't good in older engines. That leaves synthetic blend or regular oil. I would be interested in other opinions. Thanks

I replaced the screens on my 72 Tri Cabin. It had screws in the bottom L shaped channel of the window frame. They were tough to get out due to corrosion. The screws are threaded into the window frame. Once they are removed you can remove the L shaped channel and tip the bottom out and slide them out...

36 Trojan Overheating problem
I have just replaced the heads, water pump and all new exhaust manifolds, risers and hoses. I replaced the old log style manifolds with the newer center feed style. These are suppose to be more efficient. The difference between them is the old log style had 6 hoses and the new ones have 4. 2 going to ...

Steve Thanks for your reply. What are the max rpm's you run wide open? I also cruise between 2700 and 3000. My max rpm's are 3200 and a speed of around 24mph.(??by gps) I've had a couple of people tell me that this boat should run at a max of 4200 to 4400. This is why I been investigating prop sizes...

painting interior
I painted my 72 last year before launching. I asked the counter person at my local Lowe's store what they recommended and was told to use a latex home interior paint (you can also buy the same paint at WalMart for less). I did the work while it was in storage in an unheated building where it was ver...

1972 Trojan Tricabin
I have a 1972 36' Tri cabin and am looking for answers to a couple of questions. The boat has twin 270 HP 350's and I believe it weighs about 16000lbs.. It had previously been in the ocean but now is located in Lake Erie. It had 3 blade 20x21 props on it. These would only let it attain 3200 rpm's ma...
