Re: Tach Anomaly
I have the same gauges and about the same vintage. My starboard tach on the flybridge will do what sounds like the same thing. I give it a light knuckle rap on the glass face and it settles down.....not the best fix
but better (and cheaper) than replacing the gauge.

Re: Calling all Woodies
There are 2 beautiful woodies on my dock. A 1964 Chris 40 footer and a 1940 Stephens, also about 40 foot. Both a labors of love and in perfect condition. The gentleman that owns the Stephens is the original owners son. Boat was a 1 owner boat until 1987 when the owner passed away, his son inherited ...

Re: LectraSan Waste system
your brackish water probably won't have the necessary salt content... watch the meter.....one more thing...if the macerator motor in the treatment unit isn't working than the 30 amp fuse in the control panel is probably blown. When it cycles the first motor to run is the mixer motor, then the treatm...

Re: LectraSan Waste system
Dante D.....Watch the meter on the control panel. Add enough salt to keep it in the green zone. it doesn't react fast so keep an eye on it.......run it through cycles until you have in the green zone and then keep it there.....keep in mind that if is too low you are dumping waste overboard......

Re: LectraSan Waste system
I have the Lectrasan system on my boat. I boat in fresh water only so I add the salt. I do not have a salt tank as described in the manual. I use a shot glass to measure the salt and just dump it in the bowl prior to flushing. I just use regular table salt. The control unit has a meter and you use t...

Re: Gas Engines on Trojans...Past, Present, and Future
Just a non-marine comment on the ecoboost......I am and always have been somewhat of a motorhead. I have a 2012 F150 4WD Supercab with the 3.5 ecoboost. This truck is bone stock. It is easily the most impressive motor I've experienced. I can climb hills at 65mph pulling my small travel trailer in 6t...

Re: When Do you Give Up?
I've been pretty lucky......in my case the previous owner spent 4 yrs and $30K (yes, that's $30K, he keep good logs and saved receipts). I've had my boat for 6 yrs. I've had the starboard motor rebuilt, replaced the head, replaced a bildge pump, done engine hoses, tune up every other year, changed o...

Re: Running one engine on twin inboard
I did this for 2 seasons a few years back before I replaced a bad starboard engine. 1972 30' Flybridge Sea Raider. I had low oil pressure so I only used the starboard engine when maneuvering to or from my slip or a dock. While there is a considerable fuel savings, it's not half. My rpms were higher ...

I have U.S Boat insurance on my 1972 Sea Raider. Full coverage for an agreed upon value. I did have to provide a survey 5 years ago when I purchase the boat.....might be worth a try......John
