Thank you guys, so much! I'm glad I didn't just jump on it and ordered. I do have valves on both sides of the separator, so that is not an issue then. When I left the boat last time I closed both valves, just in case.
Thanks again for the help!

Thank you! I had doubts about the 1/2" size, now I'm feeling a lot better :-) I'm looking at this separator, it seems like a good one: http://www.starmarinedepot.com/Racor+490RRAC01+Gasoline+Spin-On+Filter.html If you think the other one (Sierra) is better, please let me know. I have no experie...

Water/fuel separator

Hi all, hope you're having a great Thanksgiving! I have an '83 Tri Cabin with 2x454 Crusaders and my water/fuel separators are in bad shape. They seep through some gas. Very little, but it concerns me, no matter how little the leaks are. I've tried to remove the bowl, but I can't, not even with a fi...

83 Tri Cabin A/C replacement

Hi all, one of my A/C's is completely locked up, the compressor is shot. I've tried everything possible from repl. capacitors, hooking up a hard start, etc. - the compressor won't turn. This is a Cruisair 12,000BTU Type J reverse cycle unit, 115V version. Does anyone know where it could be found? He...

Thanks for the compliment, Jim! I've been trying to keep her in a good and preferably original shape. The digital thermostat has definitely great advantages, have been playing with that thought for quite some time. But then, I would need two. They're not cheap, especially not when the heat pump itse...

Thank you guys! I've checked the coils of the compressor for short and/or ground fault, everything looked good. I guess it's just locked up. Thanks for link, will give them a call. And prepare my wallet :-)

Thank you guys!

83 Tri Cabin A/C compressor won't start

Hi all, been a long time reader. I've had this Tri Cabin for 3 years only, and have moderate experience. The problem: the forward A/C's compressor doesn't want to start. When I turn the control knob to Run, the lights get dim in the cabin, then after about 5-6 seconds they all come back to normal. W...

I'm not sure if it can be converted to R22, actually most likely it cannot be. I've found out that my compressor runs and the fan in the front of the coil as well. The cold control seems to work too, but cannot get the temp. any lower than 34 degrees. The complete set of refrigerant, meter, leak det...

Thanks for all the tips! At work I have all kinds of motors for freezers, and fan blades too. For just a "listening" test everything sounded okay. Also checked the coil at the bottom, it's clean, no sign of any dirt. I'll have to check the cold control too, that can be a problem as well. I...

Thanks Reelfishin! I'll check it out, haven't pulled the unit yet. Although it seemed like everything was running, but I base that on what I heard. Will pull the unit this weekend and look.

Raritan Icer-ette

Hi folks! Does anyone know what kind of refrigerant the Icer-ette uses? I've noticed that lately the cubes froze to each other, but now there isn't enough cooling. I haven't pulled the ice maker yet due to lack of time. I can hear the compressor running and it cools a little, but not enough. The coi...

$3120 _ Lake Norman, NC. This is considered cheap on this lake, and it includes free and unlimited water and electricity. My boat is in the water all year round, so I think it's a pretty good deal. The marina is right below 3 restaurants and a marine repair center, so the location is awesome. Free l...
