Ace hardware and most of those types of stores sell "phosphoric acid" in a gallon jug. That's the stuff used in CocaCola that rots your guts. Its pretty mild but when you leave it awhile it removes all rust.

Decent tip: an old salt in here said to mix dish soap with phosphoric acid and rub with a sponge all over your stainless steel hardware. Come back the next morning and rinse with the hose to find it all looks like new with no elbow grease.

here is a even older tip that i have used with great results.... a little dish soap, a small bit of ordinary salt and a dash of water. mix into a paste and the mild abrasive action of the salt takes stains out..... works on nasty stained glassware too!!!

Lots of great ideas here. Wish they had a section on just on boating tips. Then we could have a easy access to these tips. I am sure everyone has some great tips for boaters.

I have to agree with John, who owns the 30' Sea Raider. I used CLR on a table top, on a Chris-Craft, and it took the rust stain off. Super easy, let it soak a bit and off came the stain.
