After much time trying to find the easy answer for 'proper' factory plumbing routing on my '73 F31 with dual Chrysler LM 318s, RWC, Velvet drive 1:1 trannys, its time to just 'figure it out' and ask for a second set of eyes, agreement or disagreement.
Background: Boat new to me last year, still working out all the kinks and understanding all the systems. PO owned 2 years and its fair to say never took engines over a slow idle for various reasons, primary being loose throttle cable connection at the helm that simply wouldn't grab the butterfly's before the lever was max'ed out! Amongst other things... Anyway.. Pushing the engines harder now and its time to validate the cooling system.
First indication I needed to understand everything better was Port engine had the input to Sherwood pump on the the opposite as the Star. Second indication is the service manual only speaks of a single impeller RWC System.... Hence confusion.
Again, on the Star engine the 2 lines are the opposite, but all other lines on top of the engine to the t-stat, bypass, to the manifolds, etc seem routed the same. Im trying to make sure the tranny is getting the proper cooling, and that the routing of the system makes sense.
My next step is to add in clear pvc sections at all the joints to understand the current flow path, and modify as necessary from there.
To be objective, what I do not understand most is that the tranny oil cooler being fed off what i think is the "input" side of the dual pump... I guess my lack of pictures of the tranny oil cooler plumbing is racking my brain, and hopefully i can get to her this weekend. Referencing this post, I continue to believe all makes sense on the 'top' of the engine.

and the second image of the RW system... I get confused on how water is getting to the OC!!
(To be continued... im going to continue to edit and add to this post, saving drafts looses the pictures!)

Okay.. Might be getting somewhere now... .Apparently I needed to look in older service manuals.....
Anyone have a setup like this with the 4 finger Y splitting the Seacock inlet? Bob ya'll have any of these laying around?
Now I really need to study the oil cooler setup and make sure the tranny is being cooled properly.

I think I could help you better if you gave us a call.
On a inboard with straight drive configuration were the port is LH and starboard is RH. LH and RH engine rotation is from looking at flywheel from drive facing forward.
The cam bolts on the D60 Sherwood pump face toward the out side of the boat on both engine.
The bolt orientation is the one way to check if you have the pump upside down.
One pump on one engine goes one way the other one goes the opposite. You get one wrong and you are blowing bubbles out the bottom of your boat.
The D60 was used on the LM 318 up to 1975
There were many different configurations of the plumbing of the pumps.

WINNER WINNER WINNER! Thanks Bob!!!
Confirms it was hooked up correctly, although it didnt seem to be logical, I think it makes sense now!
This is the config I have, and yes, Cam bolts all point outboard on their respective engines!! Thanks again!

You may need to fill the bypass hose with water in order to get to get that side of pump to start working once pump is installed.
If you have other questions fell free to call.
