They say the happiest 2 days in a boat owners life......
Well, that didn't apply yesterday when I ran her to the Marina for transport.
Ah.......
Those smooth, quiet, vibration-free Yanmar diesels.....
She was such a sweet combination of power, ride, handling, reliability, safety, and efficiency.
Way, WAY more than a hunk of fiberglass and machinery
She's 21 years of memories
always brought us home safe
survived the EYE of 2 hurricanes with me, including a direct hit from Hurricane Charley, 2004 a CATEGORY 4 STORM
She's been the host of weddings and burials at sea
Christmas boat parades, ten of which she was the lead boat
The Leonid meteor showers
Lunar eclipses
July 4th fireworks
Fishing trips, including a few full-moon, 22 hour overnight fishing trips where we'd limit out
I'm in a rock n roll band. We did a few live shows from her cockpit on the water during the annual Freedom Swim
hundreds of overnights on the hook with the dinghy and many trips to Key West, Marco Island, Sarasota, Boca Grande, Bradenton, St. Pete Clearwater, Tarpon Springs, Ruskin and more.
Brought her over from Miami, across the ditch September 7-9, 2001.
Took her directly to a do it yourself marina and took 2 week vacation to bring some of her neglected systems up to speed. Watched the twin towers fall on her little TV while on the hard - - 9/11/01
Thought enough of her to do a repower with Yanmar 6 cylinder turbo diesels and a Northern Lights genset
Over our 21 year run together I continually updated and modified her for safety, reliability and style.
Lots of naps on board, wine/cheese, sunsets, coffee sunrises, hugs, kisses and love...
I left out a lot.
But wait a moment.
When I was in between marriages 2001-2004.....
well.....
Let's just say, if a boat could talk......
and leave it at that.
Her new owner will likely introduce himself here on the FORUM soon.
This will be his first inboard.
Looking forward to us all welcoming him aboard.
BEST !
