Bottom Paint question

I have never sanded bottom paint. Have the boat yard pressure wash the slime off when they haul it. Wait a few days for the bottom to dry good (while you are working on other things). If the bottom paint is too thick, it will start peeling when it dries. I use a 4" scraper to remove the loose stuff and then paint right over what's left. If there is bottom paint on your boat, it's keeping the barnacles off: if it flakes off, good....you don't have to remove it. Boatyards make millions sanding and blasting bottom paint for no good reason.
