okay fellow trojaners, i have a really silly question so please be patient.
i am installing a new raw water strainer for my a/c pump and the hose to strainer connections are NPT connectors. now, can i use teflon tape on the threads or permatex for a water proof seal? to some of you it's probably a no brainer, but i have never worked on raw water plumbing before and i dont want to screw it up. thanks in advance for your patience.

oh, i dewinterized my faithful onan 6.5 mcck on thursday. after opening the seacock, checked for water leaks, sprayed the connections to get rid of moisture, checked the battery and took a deep breath, said a 'shemah' and turned off the shore power. she sprang to life after a long winters nap!! i let her run for about an hour just to get her cobwebs out. next up.... the engines, a/c, and fresh water system.... ahhhhh spring is in the air!!
A SILLY QUESTION, BUT I'LL ASK ANYWAY

Teflon Tape
Teflon tape or joint compound is fine for water or any other fittings except on brass fittings which are typically found on fuel lines. The teflon is too slippery making it too easy to over-tighten and crack the soft brass fittings.
