EVENT HORIZON HITS THE WAVES FOR 2009!!!

Post by aaronbocknek »

yesterday phil and i took her out to get 'fresh fuel' ($2.58/gal at chesapeake yachting center in middle river) not too bad to fill the tanks (aft only though)$213.78 and then we headed out for a bit to 'stretch her legs' after a winter's nap. phil even took a turn at the helm and i must say, for only our 3rd time out, he did a great job.... at the helm and with the lines--remember, he's a 'former' land lubber and had no idea what anything was on a boat until july of last year. i cant wait to take her out again for a run up.
just wanted to pass that on. take care folks, have a great weekend.

Chafing at the bit, although no canal trips planned this year. Just "hangin" on the lake all season (which is short up here in upstate NY).

We're on Sacandaga Lake, at the Mayfield Yacht Club in Mayfield, NY. We were out in your neck of the woods last year when we took the canal from Schenectady to Fairport over a 5 week extended cruise. Lake Oneida gave us a "test" on our first crossing - wind, rain, lightning, waves, etc.

Where are you?

Sound great Aaron .... won't be long and you'll have to pry Phil's hands off the controls. Did you take the puppy also?

Aaron,

Baltimore Yacht Club used to have a good price on fuel and gave a ten percent discount to Boat U.S. members. I haven't been over yet but I may find out from a friend what their fuel price is now. I will let you know. Happy Boating!!!

will(LSP), no, maccabee samual stayed at home for this short fuel run-- the less people onboard right now during refueling the better, at least for now. i'm still getting used to how she handles etc.... phil was great though..... you should have seen him use nautical language ''fend off, cast off, stern, transom, cleat,'' like i said, most of the time he thinks i'm a busy signal or background noise (anyone else experience that with their significant others? or am i the only one?) john(mtwolf) we keep missing each other at the boater's world sale from what i understand. sometimes by just a few minutes. if you are around today(saturday) drop by parkside and say hi...slip 117... having my canvas guy sew up a few places so i need to be around---btw..sscanvas in middle river is the best!!
as for pics.... i thought of having phil take some from a distance after i got back into dock.... next time we take her out though...
off to the boat to dismantle the flybridge cover. should be fun by myself.
take care gang.
later.

Congrats Aaron & Phil! Hope MacCabee's feelings weren't hurt by not getting to go along. Hear's wishing the best boating season yet for all on the website!!!! Here's a lame pic of my pennant on the bow of the 'Di Anne Marie' (aka the DAM boat):

Image

You can see the marina entrance right in the background-easy in/out & right across from the gas/pump out dock. Could haul the DAM boat over to pump out without turning over the engines if I want to! Cedar Point ammusement park across the bay. Wife Dianne loves the location-we get water sunrises & sunsets, with no other boats blocking the view.

PS-just posted 2 pics of the 1st sunset & sunrise from the DAM boat on my louver thread.

Hey, Peter, Bob & other western Lake Erians-let's plan on a rendevous!!!

Hi Dave
saw where you got the boat in Thurs. got mine in on the same day. Dan Faith came by on Sat. and we met for the first time. Had a real nice talk. I think he would like to have a get together on the west end of Lake Erie too. Have a few things going on this summer , but if we could work something out I would be all for it. Small Change was sitting good when we came home this morning. Don't have my pennant on the staff yet but I will.
Bob
I have a 28 ft Trojan docked on Catawba Island in Onio. Would like to hear from other Trojan owners in the area.

Took the lazy way and had the marina rub and wax the hull [looks great]...oh yeah...and fell off the damn ladder taking off the shrink-wrap....no one saw...little sore but ok...

Aaron,
I found out from Rhonda that I just missed you being at Boater's World too. Anyway, I was wrong on Baltimore Yacht Club's fuel prices. It is ten cents off per gallon for fuel, if you are a Boat US member, not ten percent. I'll catch up to you sooner or later. I haven't touched my boat. My best friend passed last October and we just cleaned out his house. A twenty five cubic yard dumpster and thirty eight of the big plastic trash bags later and the house is about empty. There are still a couple of things in the basement that I need to remove. Seems like every spring something comes up that I have to attend to before the boat. Ran into Tony, a delivery skipper and fishing charter friend of mine, at Boater's World. We may go fish Key West again this year. I'll wait and see if that happens. At least one high light of spring. The way I am going I don't know when my Trojan will go in the water. Keep the faith.

Glad you're OK after your fall, Peter. Gas at my marina is $2.36/gal., considerably lower that what they were getting last year.
